    Hi everyone!
I am new to this forum. I am glad you are all here! I have pretty much made a decision to get my CDL, but still have a few questions. I figured y'all would have all the answers I need.
I talked with the head of the CDL dept at my local junior college about classes there and what the employment outlook is like for someone like myself. I am a 50 yr old women who is soon to be out on my own after 20yrs. I have been a stay at home wife/mom and have been dependent on my husband. I have a good driving record, but not a great work history. He assured me I could easily find a job. I have read enough on this site not to believe everything I am told by his kind, but can I believe this? Is it still true being a female I have a good shot in this industry? The cost of the program is $4145. big money be bs'd into losing.
Thank you so much for your help,
    spidey

    Hello and welcome!
There are a lot of female drivers here on this forum, including some who went into driving as a second career, so it can be done.
Having said that, you are right to be cautious, as schools and recruiters will often tell you what they think you want to hear, rather than a more honest opinion.
Especially if there is money involved.

There are two sections in this forum that might help, first the one about training.

and then of course the Ladies Room -

(though its been pretty quiet in there of late)

I don't know anyone who was a stay-at-home mom so that might be a problem, but I guess you will never know until you try!
