Great thread 'Tamed', I almost started one myself as I have run across many drivers with interesting and diverse backgrounds.

When I was in cdl school I had a friend who was a combat naval aviator; one who was an IT geek and a great guy and helped me with some laptop issues I had. My roommate was some sort of day trader. He taught me a lot about the NYSE. He even slept with his laptop and would wake up 2-3 times a night to check world financial markets. :biggrin_2556:

As for me, I spent nearly 20 years in the publishing industry having worked for daily newspapers and magazines to include Billboard magazine and The Hollywood Reporter. I was a photographer and graphic designer for them focusing on entertainment/music and sports.

I also owned hockey publication for a couple of years until the economy finally killed it in 2009.

I have also spent a few years as a freelance photographer, but was never really able to sustain it enough on a monthly basis to make a real living at it. To view some of my work just click on the Truckers Photos link or check out www.donolea.smugmug.com and sign my guest book. I always like to hear from my driver friends.

I always loved driving and said that if I ever had to change careers, I would get my cdl. So here I am, and loving it!:biggrin_25519:

Longshot ' Thanks for the kind words, glad you like the pics.:biggrin_255:

Don't have a lot of landscape stuff to add yet. I do have some cool stuff from Divide and Cripple Creek CO that I can add here shortly. We did a shoot with Clint Black out there last summer.

I'm not a big nature shooter ' I found it a little boring based on my background. But, I will be taking my camera gear on the road with me in the truck this time and look for some nice nature stuff.

Nice work, GoalieDon. I've done a little photography, but haven't gotten nearly as far along as you have.

    Thanks 'Tamed'

I will say a lot of it has to do with being in the right place at the right time. Not to mention the right connections! :biggrin_25525:

I started driving OTR at 21 yrs old in 1991. now almost 42.this is the only thing I know. wish I never got in one. like they say it gets in ur blood.I don't know how many times in my mind I quit this #### lifestyle. still have pics of me and my 1st truck 1985 red international cabover a/c didn't work and unable to roll down the passenger window. I look at them now and I looked like a small kid just out of high school.now look at me just look... :biggrin_2553:old,fat, going bald, and the woman don't chase me anymore. :biggrin_2553:

Retired from the Air Force after 20 years fixing all kinds of computers and communications stuff. Tried Electrician Apprentice, didn't like it. Was a cable guy, didn't like it. Worked at Wal-mart, hated it. Drove a school bus, loved it but didn't make enough money. Now I drive a truck and still don't make enough money but I am working on it.
