I'm having trouble finding a new (used) truck. If anybody is trading a 2005-2007 low mileage tractor, or knows somebody who is, I will possibly pay you more than the dealer is offering! I am looking in Eastern Canada and would travel as far as western Ontario. Post or PM me.
    Thanks!

Problem with those are most ads are out of date and the trucks are soldand all the US trucks are longer than 244"

I was told today if the truck is 2007 or older it can be longer than 244 and still haul a 53ft trailer? is this the case???

    Not in Ontario you can't.
Quebec,NB,NS and PEI now allow up to 7.2 meter WB(aprx 283 inches) and it doesn't matter what year the truck is.
You need to buy an annual permit in PQ and I also believe NB.Not aware of needing a permit in NS or PEI.Manitoba will also sell you a permit for the longer WB.Ontario is considering allowing longer WB trucks but as of yet it has not been changed.
I would check with all the provinces you plan to run in first though,BEFORE buying a longer WB truck.

pretty sure the wheel base rule depends on where you are base plated, and ritchie bros would be the best bet, might even try calling some local companies to see if they have any brokers looking to sell, could be helpful if you are looking to get into say, flat decking, you might score a truck already outfited

That wasn't my experience... the ads were current, any trucks I was interested in were available and you can search for WB=244 (unfortunately, you cannot search for a length range, only a specific number). You can also do as I did, which was import a truck with a longer WB and have it shortened... cost me $3,500.
