I have worked there as a company driver for 2 years.
I have been treated good and the dispatcher for resin fleet is very nice and easy to work for.
He sometimes gives me extra pay when i do an extra load or work in the yard.
Lets be Honest,Flatbedding is hard work, and most people quit because it is so hard, they dont like to tarp, and they dont like to sweat.
I am 55 and work pretty much when I want to,I drive under 2000 miles a week, but make good money for it.I am home every weekend, sometimes 3 day weekends and the people i work with are great and hard workers.
It is true owners oper, have a hard time, but that is true everywhere right now.
at sherman, company drivers first o/o last.
Anyway I just wanted to be honest about them, they are not perfect, but they have honest people in the office and they ,so far, stand with me through everything and good company to work for.most people bad mouth companys because they didnt get there way,so they talk bad about them here.I make 48 per mile and tarp and drop and pick pay. not the best ,but grat people to work for.

    Beechvtail and knighton5 Thank this.

Another dumb thing that SBI wants you to do, Tarp everything, even if its railroad ties or big boulders. EVERYTHING. Oh ya, no more 401k. I could say alot more but, of 31 years driving rigs, this place with for sure suck in a rookie or one that is a sucker for abuse.

Someone asked if these companies could defend themselves on the forum. Well when you see someone with 4 posts come on and cheer lead for the company it's almost even money he drives a truck from a desk or has been promised some good loads to post!

This is how they do it!

JOHNGUNNIP----- I don't think anybody is personally "talking about you" but, what "Rollover the Original" is saying is in general context of a recruiter, a pencil pusher. You should do what you want. I and others dealing with this subject are venting and hopefully giving others out there OUR experiances. Your experiance with this company is really not important to anyone on this subject of BAD companies. Perhaps you should start a NEW POST of how GOOD this company is based on your experiance.

I only posted this because of the untruths that some had said, new drivers want the truth about companys,I have heard bad about most of the companys, there is no perfect company, but a lot have good people, sherman has more good then bad.I am sorry about your bad experence, and hope you have better in the future, and I dont tarp everything,I am on the resin bag fleet and drive to burlington, and ferndale for backhaul twice a week, sometimes three times a week, yes its a hard job,but most is portland and seattle traffic problems.drive safe!

I just turned them down for a company driver job. I sent them my resume and MVR then didn't here back from them for a month so I called to see if they got the resume and MVR. They had it unreviewed and said they would review it and call me back. The next day there rep called me and offered me a position. I've been unemployed for about 4 months so I was extremely excited and confused at the same time "No interview?". So I started doing more research and my finance found this forum post about them. fortunately 2 days after they offered me the position another company that pays more called for an interview pending my hazmat endorsment I'm hired. SO thanks for the info on this company it has helped me make a good informed decision and possibly helped me build my family (time wasted at a bogas company would have hurt our goal to buy a first home).

I worked for sherman on the heavy haul flatbed side twice. My first time as a company driver and I stayed for 6 months found a better gig and gave my two weeks notice, hauled every load given and worked my full two week notice. I left and unknown to me the reported on my DAC that I quit under a load. BIG BS. A couple of yrs later I heard they were doing really well with a lease purchase deal (had some friends still hauling for them) and so I decided to go back. They asked about the DAC deal and they disregarded it and took me back. It came from a dispatcher about to retire (he was mine obviously) and we really didnt get along. I then sign on as company driver and 3 mos later as an lease purchaser. I did pretty well for about a year until the recession hit hard and the company decided to screw all o/o and lease purchasers over. There are some honest people in that office as well as a bunch of them that lie through their teeth and are big POS ! It would take up way too much space for me to tell about all the BS I witnessed in my time there that happened to several hardworking, good drivers. Of course none of these drivers were related to anyone in the office which seems to be the ones that always get treated well. I know the resin fleet was always talked highly about but never experienced it for myself. This is a bad company in my experience and I know several others that will say the same.

Have you every noticed certain companies are always hiring. There is a reason. I know of a few friends and myself that left SBI because of poor management. Stay away.
