I have recently discovered that my login ID and password can easily be read by anyone on my MCP110 qualcomm if, you know where to look.
THIS IS NOT GOOD!!!
I'm not sure if this is a qualcomm bug or if my company has it set up improperly. I need someone else from another company to verify if this same flaw is also accessible to them.
Here is my issue: My password is part of my SS# and should be kept as secure and private as possible! Other drivers, mechanics and the truck wash crew occasionally have access to my truck and thus could potentially see my personally sensitive information. The unit does not even need to be logged in to see this info.
Here is the help I need: If you have one of the "MCP" type qualcomms, I will tell you where this bug is found on my device and you can verify that it is also true or not on your device as well. At this point I will only share this information via a private message to an established member of the forum.
Qualcomm is about to get a hot letter from me but I'm not sure who to blame at this point. Please PM me if you have an MCP110 or 200 and I'll tell you how I'm doing this so we can see if it can be duplicated on other devices.
I can also provide pictures and a video if necessary. Thanks!
Password leak on QC's MCP devices- please help verify

I would have problems with my SS# as part of any login/pw.... you might want to contact the company and let them know..

Yes, many of us objected to a part of our SS# being the login password. We were over ruled and told not to worry about it. Now I have a legitimate complaint as to why that was an unwise decision. Still- I think the larger quandary is why have a password when it is so easily compromised?

With identity thief being so widespread and the fact that the SS# can be used to gain access to your information anywhere, I would refer to the SS act of 1974, plus do research on other acts in regards to the safekeeping of your SS#.
I would suggest to them that even though using the SS# is easier, that they should look at other options.
Laws are being made and the Acts have passed congress to take SS# off any type of government checks. DL's for states have removed them.
Employees can be given a regular number as an employee ID and this can be input into the database just as easily.
Good luck on this.
MarkThe Breeze Thanks this.
