I used valley out of langley* for driving lessons they were great. If you want any of the extra courses like logbooks and stuff abbotsfords the best to go too. I did tdg in surrey and the guy didn't care if you could understand how to read the book. He just passed the useless certificates out.

MTI has a great rep in the industry. I've talked to HR people at DCT Chambers and Trimac who say it is the best school out there, and that having MTI training would give you a leg up over a driver without it assuming equal experience.

Talk to the people who do the hiring for the companies you want to work for and ask them which school would give you the best chance of being hired on. It's their opinion that matters after all.

Let us know who you end up choosing, and how happy you are with the training.

i just went to the abbotsford campus of Transport Training Center of Canada and had an awesome experience while there. The instructor is very helpful gives you the time you need to figure things out, ask questions. I was going to go to valley in chilliwack but after the experience I had with them I decided not to go with them. I would highly recommend the TTCC Abbotsford campus. I Finished my course on October, 3rd and found a job n got hired on by October 6th. (Supposed to start this week sometime if it all goes well)

    Hi,
Was TTCC accepted by employer and insurance like some driving experience? What type of job did you get? Wage? Benefits?
    Thank you!

Thats the one I'm about to take - They've been here in the loops for the last several years, its done by Columbia Trucking - Ray Trenholm is the man in charge - new equipment, job placement assistance for life and its almost 4k cheaper than mti. The greenhorn course is 1 on 1 training, 104 hours in a truck + 30 hours in a class - its well recognized by the local trucking companies that I've contacted with Beaver Trucking, Waste Tech, OJ Ventures, Sands Petroleum, Trimac and Penhold Trucking all taking students after completion. In 2010 they had 100 graduates with 99% placement.

I was considering mti, however its 3 months, only 70 hours in a truck + 30 hours in a simulator and the rest is class time, vs 104 hours in a truck + 30 hours in class - more time behind the wheel, and a quicker class - MTI means 3 months in castlegar as well, so it depends on the money you have available.

I've just completed step 1, the airbrakes course and it was done right in the trades and technical building at the TRU campus, just have to do my practical in the morning and then the icbc test for the learners and will be taking the course via Columbia.

    Edit:

Passed my airbrakes course with 100% :D
