I picked up hogs and cows at farms, stock yards, and anyplace where there was a ramp and fence. Backed down plenty of dirt roads after dark with nothing but the trailer tail lights to guide me. Every bull hauler I knew could back better than most road jockeys. Interstate runs we ran 2 trucks with 3 drivers and pulled over scales without knowing what our weight was. All turn and burn miles to get to the slaughter house asap. This was in the 70's and 80's. Never was bothered by the law. But then the cops didn't want a bull hauler stinking up his patrol car. Probably different now. Thing is, I drove safe especially with a full pot of pork. The trucks were old but well maintained.

I pulled a cow trailer for 6 years myself so i understand where you're coming from.

Sounds like a good reality show. It's old school driving, dirty, tough and hard.virgil tatro Thanks this. -
You need to ride with a bull hauler awhile, it's a cinch you've never been in one. Try backing down a ranch road at night and hit a 4ft. wide chute with just one side of the trailer since theres only one door on the trailer(at the back anyway) no street lights, no other trucks to line up with, no other dock doors to judge by, and the trailer has to meet the chute with no cracks so as to not catch a foot. I think maybe you got confused as "bull haulers don't back up", but they can sure back a trailer.bullhaulerswife Thanks this.

Don't you know, those cows just hop right up in that bullrack and when you get there, they just file out single file, into the pen, ready for slaughter.

Yup, so easy a cave man could do it. Don't need any reverse, they are all trained!
puncher Thanks this. -
