    Don't you just love the MPG you can get out of a small diesel?

    The TDI Jetta I've got averages anywhere from 40-48 MPG depending on conditions.

    It's only rated at 110 horsepower, but frankly I don't think the acceleration is too bad, and I've never had the guts to "top it out" in terms of speed - I chickened out and backed off the throttle when I ran it up over 110 mph on the interstate and was still nowhere near the red line on the tach.

    Yeah, I bet they figured you'd lost your mind!

    PS- I have seen other drivers doing the same thing, where they have 'built' their own APU and it runs on gasoline.
