I was parked last night at the Little Rock Petro at exit 161 waiting to make my delivery up in Paragould at Prestolite this morning. Since it was pretty mild, I wasn't idling.
At around 1:30AM, I heard a knock on my door. Figuring it was a LL, I didn't hurry getting up, I mean who else would knock on your door at that hour other than maybe a driver you were going to repower. At any rate when I pulled back my curtain there was nobody there. I decided to go ahead and start up to charge my batteries for 5 min or so. When I turned the key, everything went dark. no cranking, no lights, nothing. I ended up getting a jump from the RoadPro truck, which fired up my truck right away.
Had it not been for the LL waking me up, I might not have found my truck needed a jump until right before I left, which would have made me late.
Good job, ho! LOL!

Why did the batteries go dead?
-
That is what i was thinking...running the bunk fan maybe?
Still it should not pull them down that fast. -
i would imagine his lights were on,it was likely another driver that knocked on his door.

My lights were off. Maybe the low voltage cutout went crazy. I haven't shut down the engine since the jump to see if it happens again.

The wierd thing is that nothing seemed to reset, like the radio and my gps.

Electrical issues in big trucks can be hard to figure out sometimes..

If your batteries are going bad, it will do that, mine did it recently and I replaced all 3 and added the fourth, I don't have that problem now.
