Why do you think you will be sent home? Do you plan on refusing to do the sleep study? If you comply with the procedures, there is no need to be sent home. It will be to your benefit, as well as Prime's. Best of luck to you!

Is there some reason you directed this whole response towards me? Let me clear something up. I in no way feel that I am entitled to any of these things. I happened to see guys saying they had these things in their trucks so I thought I would ask if they came with them. I am new and have no idea unless I ask. If my questions upset you in some way you dont have to answer them. But do me a favor you dont like my question dont insult me by answering them in a condescending manner!
Did I say I didnt like HHG? I actually said that I see the pros outweigh the cons on it and it can actually be a good thing.
I could care less about BMI standard and never said anything about it.
Did I ever say anything about pets? Who cares about pets?
I actually find that Prime stands way above the rest of the companies out there for how well they try and take care of their drivers. They give them far more perks then most companies out there and never said anything bad about them. I actually have nothing but good things to say about them that is why I am talking to a recruiter tomorrow about it.dollarmtn Thanks this. -
My post wasnt really directed entirely at you... I probably shouldnt have quoted your post... kinda a reaction to your statement about expected living conditions on the road and having to buy ammenities
more at the general sentiments I percieve in some of the questions Ive seen over the last year from various prospective drivers and current trainees.
No you didnt complain about the pet deposit or the miles... other people did... Same thing with the BMI.
Im especially tired of hearing people ######## about the small trucks. It is what it is and its not barganing chip for employment... Prime has plenty of other applicants to choose from. They dont care if a driver refuses to be assigned one. They'll get you a bus ticket home. Its a very simple path to a larger truck... lease, team, or after the requisit wait period, become a trainer.
Prime has stepped up to pay those individuals who drive those trucks an extra .05 a mile. -
Thanks for the clarification. I can see how that can get aggravating. I also know being a new company driver you cant expect to be put into the brand new big truck until you have paid your dues. But still the trucks that people are complaining about being small or whatever else they are saying about them from my research seem to be really nice trucks. Not some beat up run down old as dirt P.o.s tonka truck.

I reckon I'll suffer with the full-size truck lol My tnt trainer knows someone who still has one of the cute trucks. Thank you for the info!! Hopefully soon I'll be in my own truck FINALLY!!Last edited: Oct 10, 2011

I have a 18 inch neck and although I am ok on the BMI I understand I will have to take the sleep study. My question is will failing the sleep study mean I will be sent home? If that is the case should I have the test before going to Springfield on the 25th

K cool fact most of the little trucks are new.. Cant say most companies would give you as a new hire a brand new truck but they do! Go to any other company they would give you some P.O.S. that every senior driver has refused 600,000 + miles never been washed smells like an outhouse... Even being small its still a brand new 2011-2012! Why complain??

No... you won't be sent home, and don't waste your money. If you test positive for sleep apnea, you'll be asked to use a CPAP machine when you sleep. By all accounts, you'll get the best nights' sleep you've ever had after being on it.

The sleep study is not a pass / fail kind of test. You either have sleep apnea or you don't. If you have sleep apnea you will then get a CPAP machine. Google CPAP for more info.
Whether you get the test done at home or thru. Prime's physician group is up to you. If you have to pay for the test, I understand Prime gets reduced rates for cost of the study and CPAP machine.. A heck of a bargain compared to what my medical insurance paid.
If you do get a CPAP before starting school, please make sure the machine has an electronic recording device, e.g., card reader. Basically, it looks like a credit card that slips into a card slot on the machine. The card will capture your sleep data and record whether you are using the machine nightly or not. CPAPs are not an issue with most OTR companies providing you use it.
Oh yeah, one mo' thang. The sleep study typically goes like this: you get to the clinic about 8:00 pm. After you are signed in they will show you the showers, restroom and where they keep the cold bottled water.
You are assigned to a private room. My room had TV, a radio, DVDs, books etc. From 9-10 pm the techs are hooking you up to the monitor(s). Good thing I was not getting a plesmograph because both female techs were drop dead beautiful.
After that's done, you can watch TV, read or whatever until you go to sleep. Wake up is about 4:30 - 5 am. After that you can go home, talk with the techs about the test and even shower. Personally, I went to Cracker Barrel. It's the easiest test you will ever take.Last edited: Oct 11, 2011
