That's the problem with the likes of yourself. You can't figure out plan B so you'd sooner pizz and moan about your problem.

I feel sorry for your family that they are counting on you to provide for them.

If you're a company driver(or leased to a carrier) then your problem is with the carrier, not the broker or shipper. Someone there accepted the load and the parameters that went with it.

Well YOU did take the load. DOT has nothing to do with weather you can make the load or not. Although showing up early sometimes works out, as you noticed, sometimes it dont. Did you try calling the receiver and rescheduling. Did you contact dispatch and let them know what was up. It does suck sometimes dealing with crap like that but if it's anybody fault it's your companies. By the way, name calling will probably not get you very far. Although they might not be the answers you were looking for, you were given answers.

I honestly do not know. You are correct, it's best not to fudge your book. One thing I always look for is time stamps on the bills. More and more shippers are doing this. Hopefully someone else on here has dealt with this issue. Best of luck to you.

Since the inception of the 14 hr rule this has become a real problem.

Shippers and receivers need to expand their understanding past their docks, understand the HOS rules, and try to work with drivers instead of just pushing them around.

How do we get them to do that? I wish I knew...

LMDAO....DAQ? Look junior not every company use DAC and the ones that do will hold that smokin gun over your head so you will do as they say or else.
The way some of you green horns think about DAC blows me away. DAC is just like a credit report if you miss a payment they will ding your credit score, and I bet anyone of us have in the past missed an on time payment, paid it and moved on.

LOL they along with alot of drivers dont understand or care about HOS rules. Not untill the truck is loaded should a receiving time be made anyways.
Strange how laws and rules are passed so easily against a driver but none, for some reason can be passed on the shippers and/or receivers aint it?

By the way loved your "Gimme Pigs" post!!! Hit the nail on the head with that one!!

I can sympathize with the gentlemens dilemma, I am often in the same circumstance.
The reality of the situation is that the Broker could care less, your Dispatcher has taken the load without regard to checking or knowing your HOS circumstances "@#$%" seems to fall down hill in a hurry. Thus while the Broker and Dispatcher are home with wife and kids with the feet on the coffee table a cold beer in both hands, we are somehow expected to do miracles, drive all night, stay legal and do the right thing.
I have tried the "doing the right thing" approach, it falls on deaf ears and while DieselBear or ScaleMaster have you detained they don't care about the circumstances either, you are either in compliance or NOT.
I don't like to sit 2 days to be in compliance while again, the person who has the inner rectal cranial insertion problem is no where around when things go bad, I just don't let them go "bad anymore". I have to say NO, find me something else.

I have been wasting the HR756 Bill below go noplace..........once a shipper and receiver are on the hook for actually adhereing to a appointment time and not being the biggest portion of the problem, things might change. HR756 is stalled in Congress.

    H.R.756
Latest Title: To direct the Secretary of Transportation to prescribe standards for the maximum number of hours that an operator of a commercial motor vehicle may be reasonably detained by a shipper or receiver, and for other purposes.
Sponsor: Rep DeFazio, Peter A. [OR-4] (introduced 2/17/2011) Cosponsors (12)
Latest Major Action: 2/18/2011 Referred to House subcommittee. Status: Referred to the Subcommittee on Highways and Transit.
