That way ya don't have time to knock back a couple of Molson's!
-
I can tell you used to be the class clown did'nt you ironpony?
-
What? Is this U2 calling out Sazook day or something?
Anyways, yes I had a student that was denied entry into Canada at the Woodstock, NB crossing. I turned around, went back into the US, and dropped him off at a motel in Houlton, ME. I made my delivery in Claire, NB, grabbed some fries in Easton, and got him on the way back.
As far as not wanting to go in to Canada because of having to go thru Customs, the last time I went to Canada, I had a total border crossing time of 1 minute, in and outbound combined. In fact the only two times I've even been held up was having to take the student back to the US, and bringing a load of lettuce in from Quebec, and even then, all I had to do was go inside the complex and get a FDA stamp on my paperwork.
Canada can be very profitable if you are a lease operator. My last load in went from NC to Mississauga, ON, just outside Toronto. The load was less than 4000#'s, and paid almost $4/mi. -
Holy smokes, that was a good paycheck.

We can do pretty well... just gotta hold the line on costs.

Agreed. My only issue right now is the lack of savings. We had some. Then Tink broke herself. A lot.

Just for all you Daddy's: Next year in London, the Olympics will take place. Lots of little girls will wanna be just like "insert name of team member here." Think LONG and HARD about this. It is dangerous, physically and emotionally. Unless you are willing and able to combat the asinine banality of a coach telling your 96 lb 4'10" daughter that she is "fat" then you need to keep her far away. This world has enough issues out there for teenaged girls w/o adding the stress of being in a leotard in front of people everyday.
I really don't know if I knew then what I know now if I would have made the same decision. Pretty sad really. She LOVES it. Most days. She's still rather go than not. Every day. 4 hours/day. More as meet season rolls in.
Boy. I sound sorry for myself. -
That was an interesting read. I plead insanity once. I was crazy in love with my wife and I still am after 30 years of marriage. Is that crazy or what?
All kidding aside, getting into Canada now days is not that difficult. It's coming cross the border and back into the USA without a passport. The folks at DHS/INS and Customs are doing a great job monitoring the US - Canadian border. -
I have a passport but a felony DWI back in 1998. I wonder how that would effect me!? I doesnt even show on my DMV driving record anymore. I also ran a criminal background check on myself and I cant find it there either. Im sure they have more sophisticated means of checking that stuff though. Thats why I was sure to include it when I applied for the job with Prime today.

reptij. You are miles ahead of the game when you tell the truth. Your DMV is clean and your criminal background is clean. However, most law enforcement agencies do a NCIS check a.k.a. Rap Sheet.
Once you get back home for a few days off, visit your local Police Department and ask them if they would do an NCIS background check on yourself.
Providing you have the right identification, e.g., drivers license, social security card, birth certificate or passport and, proof of residence such as an electric or gas bill they "can" do the search.
They may charge you b/w $5.00 and $25.00 for the background search. If the background search comes back clean then you do not have a positive hit on your criminal record.
If the background check documents your DUI then the best thing would be to call an immigration attorney's office in Detroit or Buffalo, NY and ask for a quote for the documents you need to enter Canada legally.
Like IP made reference to: if there's a dollar there's a way.
