I fail to see what the issue is with lack of experience within a recent time frame. If a person has two years experience in the last five or two years experience in the last 10, it makes no difference. Driving a truck is like driving a bike, you never forget. You may become somewhat rusty, but it all comes back pretty quickly.

With Maverick it wouldnt matter except if he refused to go with s trainer for a week or two. If he intentionally lied about it or some other thing on his application that would be cause for immediate removal fron orientation. Dont lie to them about anything because when they find out,and they will, they WILL send you packing.

I made zero during PAM's three day orientation and $300 a week with my instructor. I paid $300 to C.R. Engalnd for a 1-week refresher course and made $350 a week with my instructor and we ran team! We ran 23,000+ miles in 30 days. I'll take Maverick's $500 orientation and $450 a week w/instructor any time!

In fact, I have been accepted to orientation at Maverick and will be there this Sat. (10/16/11)! :biggrin_255:

I hope it's like riding a bike. I've been out of it (a truck) for 10 yrs. Maverick is willing to pay me while they train me, so here I go. EVERY company I contacted wanted 1 yr verifiable T/T experience with in the last 3 yrs. They all say it's the insurance companies that demand this. I don't really thin you forget how to drive a truck, but I guess I'll see soon. Getting on a bus tomorrow night, bound for NLR.

I have read lots of complaints about trucking companies on this forum before I ever became a driver. I have experienced none of them at Maverick. It has been and excellent company to work for. I would recommend them to anyone.
If you did not make the grade and did not get hired, then all I can say is that I am glad.
We do not need sub par drivers here. There are other companies available for that.

This is an old thread! It was almost a year old before Bretstep resurrected it.

I would like to just clarify what I meant in my statement. I am sure that there have been drivers sent packing from Maverick that probably would have been good drivers but for some reason, they were sent away. Then there are the ones that have an attitude or something that made Maverick think that they were not what they are looking for.
Those are the ones that will probably not secure to our standards, speed, take other risks or annoy our customers.
They are the ones that will cause our CSA scores to go up which will in turn cause me to get pulled into scales more frequently instead of getting the green light and continue on down the highway.
Maverick has high standards and that is the way that I like it! I want to work for the best or one of the best and I am always striving to make it the best.:smt117

Hell...don't sweat Maverick. They....like so many other companies....try to portray themselves as the "cream" of the crop. Their turn-over rate is just as high as every other company out there! LOL!
