Remember its a child not a choice. I hate covenant trucks with their propaganda spewed on their trailers.

Ive donr teaming also, it sucked big time and wont ever do it again. Go for schneider or another company that will let you run solo. Your first year will never pay much by the mile but get that year done safe and legal. KEEP YOUR MVR CLEAN! You will be able to go pretty much anywhere after that.

I drove with Covenant. If you want to run teams they have the miles for team freight. They also do a fairly decent job of matching drivers for teams. However you wont get good miles as a solo there, trust me. I have not worked for Schneider. The only overtly religious part of Covenant is the logo on the trailer. And they have some southern baptist sermons on tape in the driver's lounge in Chatt. And yeah the women working there are somethin else :biggrin_255:

Have you tried other companies? Prime? Central Refrigerated? I worked for the big pumpkin before and while they aren't the best company around they at least give you a few cents more for teaming. 14 cpm is total crap even if its for the total miles the truck moves. I think every company gives at least a few cents more for teaming because they know its hard living in a truck with another person for weeks at a time.
Schneider used to give me an extra 5 cents to team before they knocked it down to 3. Look somewhere else that 28 cents (total) to team is NOT WORTH IT!

I've been driving for Cov. for over 3 yrs. Cov. has good miles for team freight but the key is to find a good team partner.

Cov. does a good job matching drivers???? :biggrin_2559: That's a joke right??? :biggrin_2559:

They have team meetings every day of the week when a bunch of drivers (most strangers to each other) gather in a room and "team coordinator" asks those who found their partners to give their names and info. Basically Cov. does nothing other then putting drivers' names on a list and match non-smokers with non-smokers and state of residency for hometime. Cov. says they will call new driver with list of prospect names but don't trust it. You may end up sitting and waiting....

Once I suggested Cov. preparing a list of key questions for new drivers looking for partners and using the data for matching purposes. But they came up with excuses not to do it....

I had a hard time with partners. I'm female, had males and females, 7 in 6 months. At the end of my teaming period, company said they changed their rules and were not allowing any new driver to go solo.... REALLY???:biggrin_25510: Then I refused to run with another person and ran solo anyway for one month until someone helped me to get a dedicated account where I have been since then, solo and make good miles.

You are right about solos don't make good miles, unless one is in a dedicated account like GP or WalMart or a few others but one has to be with company for at least one yr to get one of those accounts if they are available.

Problem with teaming is you don't get a chance to get know that person before you hit the road with them.I did teaming for 6 months and I had 3 teammates, first one was had a big ego issue he thought he knew it all, second one was mean nature and a racist! My third and final teammate was pretty nice and easy to get along with Christian guy so he was best teammate but had a minor health issue and had to quit trucking not to long after we started teaming. After that I figure teaming wasn't for me and I went solo, only issue with that is the company I was with team trucks get more loads and better miles. So there a lot to consider before you do teaming, solo is your best chance.

Schneider lets you idle anything over 5% on that and over speed and you lose your quarterly safety bonus and yes u have to wear safety shoes no big deal rather be safe then sorry they will give u some and take it out of your checks over a period of time and taking another drug screen and or d.o.t physical is nothing just means a certain amount of time has passed or is gonna pass by the time they bring you into orientation

My question may seem dumb, but being a student in a CDL school....are you all referring to a weekly or biweekly paycheck??
