    Tell this driver that. :)

And the part of the gun being locked up and disassembled makes it useless.

I'm not saying you, but I bet a large number of gun toting drivers would shoot someone in the back, given the chance.

So, no facts to back up your statement. NY is one of those states that you have to have it locked up and preferably disassembled. It doesn't matter if you're driving a Honda or Freightliner. As far as your BS position about shooting drivers in the back, there are a great many drivers that carry now, and it doesn't happen. Please, take your drivel someplace else, or back up your statement with FACTS.

OK, I got bored with the back and forth in this thread, so I will just say this. I'd rather have it and not need to use it, than to need to use it and not have it. If you carry, be proficient with it, and KNOW that you are willing to do what needs to be done. Expect to face the consequences of your actions.

At home and in my personal truck, i have my P30 next to me at all times.... In the rig I just carry a 2lb hammer and only $40 cash (can't carry the flare gun while hauling haz-mat tanker loads)

But I also do the same run the the same place every week and only stop at 2 truck stops that I know are safe. Plus I am not wearing sandals and shorts and tank tops. Seems like they would go for those drivers before going after a guy wearing cat steel toes, jeans and a work shirt. But maybe not:biggrin_25523:

I get sick of the whole us vs. them about every single subject discussed.

    Law of the land/Outlaw
    Long hood/Aero
    GPS/Maps and directions
    Independent school/Company training
    Buy used/Lease new
    Flipflops/Closed toed shoes
    Shorts/Long pants

    Carry/Don't carry.

If you carry, you're looking for trouble. If you don't, you're a pushover for the guv'mint. Are you guys kidding me??

    Really??

I own firearms. I choose to leave them at home. I have enough confidence and awareness of my surroundings to avoid problems in the first place. The only problem I have ever sensed, besides a recent event in June, was in a rest area. A guy was skulking around the ladies' room, hiding behind the vending machines and followed me up toward the parking lot. I walked calmly to my truck and left the area.

I choose to leave my guns at home because I don't want the added liability. If you think that's wrong, too bad.

But seriously? Why do you care so much?

(This was in no way aimed at anyone in particular...unless you're someone who has to fuss at everyone else who doesn't do it YOUR way.)

Where did I say I hated guns? FYI, I own a handgun. I don't see the point in taking it with me in the truck as it does more harm than good.

The simple way to avoid life and death situations is to not put yourself in them. As in, don't open your door to anyone who knocks on it.

I have one of those by my bed at home and my wife has her 9MM on her side and a pistol grip barrel shot gun real close. Also have a Taurus 357 in the garage another one in the living room and pistol hid in the kitchen. We don't have children so no worries. If my dogs could shoot a gun they would be packin. Forgot the bathroom have one sitting above the toilet where we keep the extra toilet paper that way if I am sitting on the thrown and someone breaks in I won't need to move just finish my business and wait.
