When I lived in DC (15 years) I always carried two wallets. One for the mugger in my back pocket and mine which was strapped to my ankle. The mugger wallet had a five and a few ones, expired license, expired credit cards, current coupons with a future expiration date, and a few business cards like restaurants etc. I also had a nine mm in the small of my back.

You know I didnt notice anyone saying they carried pepper spray on their person. I do like the idea of the wasp spray in the truck and that heavy mag light to smash a collar bone though.
Injun, Joescheppae Q and SHC Thank this. -
1. GUNS
While I do not choose to carry a gun, I am not opposed to other people having them. I do not want the extra liability that comes along with them, and I would rather not have to live with the fact that I took another life. If you are comfortable with that responsibility and have the proper credentials and knowledge of gun laws, good for you - keep your gun!
2. DON'T MAKE YOURSELF A STATISTIC
Where I'm from, crime is not a huge issue. Sure there's crime, but locals often state that victims of crime here have made themselves statistics. I believe in this concept and choose not to make myself a statistic. Consequently, I do not carry >much< money or important documents in my "dummy" wallet. I don't wander dark streets/alleyways, nor do I answer knocks on the door late at night. I don't engage in risky behavior, and I know how to present myself when confronted by persons I deem to be a threat to my personal safety. I am not paranoid, but I am street smart.
I am glad to see that the posters being deemed "anti-gun" are actually quite level-headed. It seems that some are blowing this WAY out of proportion.
3. A RECAP
a. It is actually still legal to possess firearms. Handgun owners should be knowledgeable of gun laws in each state/locality they will be operating in, and they should possess the proper permits/licenses.
b. 99.999% of posters on this thread are not opposed to gun rights.
c. Wasp spray is a perfectly legal, inexpensive and unregulated form of pepper spray!
That's a win/win situation...

i thought u need a federal license to carry over state line?? anyone wanna let me in on a secret? bought a snazzy 380 a few weeks ago and would love to have it under my pillow
-
There is no "federal license" so to speak, not for us ordinary peons atleast.
However, if you get a LTCH (license to carry handgun) or CCW (carry concealed weapon permit) for one state, many other states will recognize it.
For example, I have an Indiana lifetime LTCH. I can carry in something like 24 states with it. I know I can carry in pretty much every southern state except South Carolina.
I hear that Utah has the permit that the most states recognize.
