anything vital like cash & a debit card i keep in my front pants pocket. If asked by anyone other than my fiancee to hand over money is why I wear a cute little ccw fanny pack w/ a Taurus PT145 subcompact .45 ACP inside. This sleazy little man bag allows very very very quick access to the .45 via a pull cord. And when that bad boy comes out "'there's gonna be alot of slow singing & flower bringing."

You specifically said it was illegal for a truck driver to have a firearm. You post a story about a driver going through NY without his gun properly stored and think that is fact? If that guy was in a Toyota he would have been arrested. You have no idea what you're talking about, yet you're spreading around the net like you do. I keep my firearm locked up when traveling through NY, MA, ME, NJ, CT, MD, and IL. I can carry concealed in 34 states or so with my FL CWL. A firearm is a tool, no more, no less. I have no problem with folks that don't like inanimate objects like firearms, but don't spread lies.

Has anyone here ever actually pulled a gun on someone? Or had one pointed into the middle of your face?
I have on both questions. Neither is a comfortable position to be in. In my case, I kept a shotgun with a riot barrel (18.5 inch) for home protection. I didn't like the idea of having to aim carefully if the effects of adrenaline were in full force. It's extremely difficult to keep a steady bead when shaking that much. The first shell was #4Birdshot, the rest (5 rounds) were 00Buck. I kept the action open as a safety. Well, someone was trying to break in through the back door. The sounds of the doorknob being tampered with woke me up. I had the bedroom window open, with a block stick in the slider and could see the person's shadow in the moonlight. All I did was close the action on that Mossberg. (It was slide action.) I honestly don't think there is a human being on the face of this Earth who does not understand that sound. Whoever it was dropped everything and beat feet out of there. I got a very nice Snap-On screwdriver and a Craftsman crowbar out of the deal.
When answering a medical call one late evening, I had a new guy with me. We were going on a welfare check and had our hands full of medical stuff. I knocked on the door to this house. The door was flung open by an extremely angry looking dude with a big revolver in his hand. The barrel of that revolver was pointed directly at my nose and I could see the Hydra-Shok cartridges in the wheel. Most of our medical supplies hit the guy's front porch as we backed down the steps, wishing the guy a nice evening, apologizing for disturbing him. The bore on that gun looked to be about a foot in diameter from my perspective. We went back to our rescue truck, I drove us down the road about a half mile and waited for the sheriff to retrieve our stuff. The rookie quit that night.
You see, people who have been there won't "tough-talk" by saying things like "I'll cap his arse." Or "There will be slow singing and flower bringing." The graviity of both situations has never escaped me. Unless a person was brought up in a war zone and lives with death every day, the human mind is just not wired to routinely cause the death of another human. Yes, there are some who can do it and not lose a wink of sleep over it. But those people are very few.
Regarding the tired mantra "Better to be judged by twelve than carried by six." That's not necessarily true. There have been more than a few police officers and military members who simply could not live through the he11 of having taken human life...and ended their own over it.
I do not begrudge a person carrying a firearm. I believe it is a right conferred by the Constitution...oddly enough, with no restrictions as to criminal history or propensity toward beating up family members. Therefore, all of these laws regarding who can own/carry and who cannot are contrary to the Constitution. I honestly believe that. But if you choose to carry, consider the aftermath of making a further choice to end another person's life. Right now, before you have had to make that decision, you view that other person as "just a crackhead" or "a worthless ho." Later, after the action is taken, you realize that person was somebody's daughter or brother. Tough talk now, but do you honestly think you can live with the results? All of them?Last edited: Oct 14, 2011

On the same token, you think it's okay to carry openly. Most states have stipulations. Do you stop at each state line and comply? Have you needed it yet? What are you going to do at a customer that forbids firearms? You keep dodging them questions.
If you read my post again, you see I have nothing against it other than a idiot possessing a gun. I have guns in my house and am thoroughly trained to use one. You missed the point that you have choices. One can go through life without a weapon by their side 24/7. The odds are higher you will get hit by lightning than being robbed. Do you have lightning rods on your house?
Deciding not to carry has to do with employers and customer rules and I will pass through states that frown on it. If the gun is put away, it is useless to you. I have better things to do than wave the constitution around and carry just to prove a point. -
Where you get this stuff from? Since you asked, I have no problem with Open Carry, though I've never carried that way. Yes when I'm entering the Northeast or going through states that do not have reciprocity with FL, I stow my weapon properly. I have never needed my firearm while in my truck thankfully. I don't always carry, as some places I go do not allow it (ports, nuke plants, etc.). That's great that you don't feel the need to carry a weapon, but as from the beginning of my responses to you where you asserted that it was illegal for a truck driver to carry a firearm in their vehicle, IT IS NOT. END OF STORY!!! You were spreading a lie, I called you on it, get over it.
As far as more people getting hit by lightning than being robbed, holy crap man, get that exhaust system checked. I live in the lightning capital of the US and it's a news story when someone gets zapped. According to the FBI and NWS, the odds of having a property crime or violent crime happen in 2010 is 1 in 29 where the odds of being hit by lightning in 2010 was 1 in a million. Keep in mind these are just reported cases. Keep making stuff up buddy.grizzly Thanks this. -
Bear repellent is the strongest of the capsaicin sprays. Stronger than what LEOs use.
I quit carryin my lead slinger a few years ago just because the fear of government violating my God-given liberty due to being discovered that I am prepared to defend my life. I figure giving the thugs a few dollars is less of an inconvenience than dealing with the justice system labeled as a criminal. The odds of a thug committing murder for murder's sake on me is less than a 4th Amendment violating LEO using me to up his catch count.
I refuse get "permission" to carry. That's an infringement. My permission comes from God and it's actually a requirement. God gave you your life and you owe Him to defend it.
Has anyone ever considered installing steel plate in the sleeper walls for fear of being shot in the bunk? That thin aluminum and upholstery ain't gonna slow down a slug much. Maybe some SS mesh screen would be lighter in weight. Don't know the cost of Kevlar curtains...
