My husband got back into trucking so I am a new Truckers Wife. :yes2557: He is driving as an owner operator. I have learned to look up the cheapest fuel costs for him and estimate his milage. I keep the books so we can make sure his checks are correct. It can be alot of work. I have also learned that it is very important that I support his decision to do the job he loves so much. It makes his job much easier knowing that when he calls he isn't going to get nagged about when are you going to be home or why did you have to pick this job. I am so very proud of my husband doing a job he loves and also supporting his growing family(yep got a bun in the oven:yes2557:). I love you Hon and cherish the times when you are home.

hi, im mistwig. im a drivers wife too. i have been by his side supporting him for as long as i have known him. i wouldnt have him any other way than doing the work he loves.
we wives who support our trucking men are a might force that helps to keep this nation moving. it takes a special kind of woman to be able to keep things at home running smooth so our men dont have to worry about anything but what they are doing while out there on the road.
i have been a driver too. i chose to get off the truck and stay home. no kids to take care of, but i hold a job, pay the bills, make sure there is food in the house, and try to give him plenty of time to relax when he walks thru the door.
never feel you are alone. you are not. go to atruckerswife.com. there are alot of us there and you will be welcome.

Except for holding a job of my own, (not by choice, just no jobs to be had around here right now) and driving a truck, you and I sound quite alike. I'm new on this forum, but the DH has been driving for 2 years now.

afx2009 - Welcome to the life of a trucker's wife. It takes an extraordinary woman to stand by her man when he chooses a job that takes him away from home so much, but you can't help but be proud of him for the sacrifice he makes because without our truck drivers, this country would come to a grinding halt. It's not all sunshine and roses with this kind of life, but if you stay optimistic, it can be pretty wonderful in its own way. You may not celebrate holidays, anniversaries or birthdays on the "right" day, but it doesn't make it any less special. My husband makes a point to make it even more special if we have to miss specific days. There are plenty of us out there that support our men the best we know how, I'm still getting used to it myself, even after all this time, but it gets easier as time goes by.

And congrats on the bun! We're hoping to have one of our own soon, we just have to get the timing right! lol
