I have a wilson 2000 trucker series swrs are low the problem is when talkin on the cb im freezing up my qualcomm.I took a test light and tested the shaft and got a strong glow then went to the mounting bracket and have a very dim glow there and also on the bolts on the bracket.Does this mean the antenna is not grounded properly? if so do I ground to the metal chassis or to the black 12volt post in the truck??

I would say it is a grounding issue. The best thing is braided ground straps (or a piece of coax with center conductor soldered to braid). Make short runs, less than 18", ant. bracket/mirror arm to door, door to body, body to frame. Usually helps things immensely. I would solder everything, not just crimp the connections. Maybe one of the experts will chime in with a better idea.firebird1 Thanks this.
