Yeah I had a blast with the training, don't get me wrong it was work but I enjoy traveling and am single. I defiantly got my feet wet too, ran a lot of mountains including Donner, grapevine, vail, some goofy roads out east. Pretty much ran all of I90,80,70 and 40 at one point or another. In the time I was on the mentor's truck we ran 24,000 total miles and drove in 42 different states. I sure am glad I got an OTR mentor some people in my class got ones on regional or dedicated runs and I think they got cheated. Now I'm back home waiting on a truck, hope it doesn't take too long I'm already bored sitting around I want to get rolling and to start making some money.

Just keep at it then, they do have to get your MVR from your state and the holidays could hold that up some. I know it took an extra day in my case because there was one of those Monday holidays.

Same thing here. Been waiting on the DMV to get my MVR to Swift. I told them everything on it though, so there should be no issues. Recruiter's words, not mine. I'm tentatively scheduled for the 23rd in Phoenix, barring anything unexpected showing up or me not passing the DOT physical.

They have NO company-paid health benefits. They just responded to the requirements of 'ObamaCare' and started one this year but the cost is 100% you

You may have a long wait for a truck depending upon where you are. In Phoenix there are NO trucks available. Every day there are several drivers wandering around the Tractor Assignment trailer checking to see if there is one. The usual wait is two weeks. Swift will slip-seat you if you take more than a couple of days at home. They have not purchased new trucks in several months now.

You're right, the benefits are not company paid, but, they have been offering great group policies long before Obama was elected.

I've been taking 4 days each time I go for home time and no problems with losing my truck. Of course I stay out 5-6 weeks @ a time and run something like 2800-3000 miles a week so I guess they figure they are making money on the truck.

Really they only people I seem to run into that have problems with miles and home time are the ones sitting at terminals waiting for loads. When you talk to them a little you find out they turn down anything not over 500 miles and ##### and moan about everything then wonder why they sit. Me, two 200 mile loads in a day is great, more money per mile and less time off your 70.

"If you're going to put the uniform on, you might as well do some flying." --A wise old airline pilot, long ago. And it still makes sense, especially in the trucking business. If they didn't want to drive ANY miles given to them, I wonder why they took the job in the first place.
