Thanks for the info. I haven't been in there in a while but have always stopped there since the seventies, it is one of my favorites in that part of the country. They always had good food, clean rest rooms, and the nicest gaurds at the fenced pay to park lot.

It's a good habit to check the dates on any food, no matter where you buy it. Medications, too.

In many places it is the responsability of the supplier or vendor to stock the shelves (not the store) and take away stale dated product.

Check the date before purchasing and you won't have this problem.

You have to watch out for yourself in this day and age. YOU need to check for outdated codes on perishable foods yourself.

Since I hauled Cokes, I was taught to read dates and rotate. That stuff still sticks with me today. I read all dates. You'd be surprised what you find in truck stops. I found stuff a year or two out of date. They never rotate.

My ex was one of them hoarders. One day I couldn't take it anymore :biggrin_2559: and cleaned out her fridge for her. I found stuff 7 years out of date.

My mom was the same way. Mainly because she grew up during WWII in Austria. Most people had nothing back towards the depression. When she died in 2000, I cleaned out her deep freezer and found some deer meat from back in 1974. ewwwwwww!

If it ain't fresh, I won't touch it. Amazing how some quirks stick with you.

Yep. I dealt with vendor credits when I worked in grocery receiving at Walmart. Products like Budweiser and Miller/coors beer, Frito-Lay chips, name brand dairy, Coca-cola, Pepsi, Dr Pepper-Seven Up, Hostess cakes, packaged bread, DiGiorno/red baron/tombstone/freschetta pizza and dreyers/blue bell/haagen daz ice cream are all examples vendor supply items that the delivery driver/merchandiser/salesman must rotate and remove dated product. Salesmen hate doing credits since it comes out of their comission.

There is a difference between items marked "Best if used by xx/xx" and items that must be sold by law by the marked date. Items marked "Best if used by xx/xx" do not fall under the FDA rules.
