Serious question, is it jealousy that makes you rant so hard about it or did you buy into global warming and think we are all destroying the planet?

I mean I don't care that you drive an aerocrap truck, why do you care what everyone else drives?

As for your cost theory, it's laughable at best. You realize paccar isn't Ford and there isn't an assembly line the way you're imagining it right? Said it before, I'll say it again, no one in my business except large companies with otr type turnover rates have aero anything. We like hoods on our trucks out here and the small companies/oo's will keep buying them.

These small companies don't know what they're doing. Behind closed doors we all strive to be like Swift, you know lease the cheapest POS anyone will sell us. Operate some trucks at a loss but make up for it in volume, constantly hiring drivers to make up for the ones we lose daily. These idiotic small companies do dumb stuff, like buy trucks that still have value when they sell them. Or buy one that's easy to work on and doesn't have an engine covered in plastic and under the windshield. Or probably the dumbest thing of all, they try an make a profit on every mile the truck moves and not rely on the profit of 5 other trucks to cover one lane that doesn't pay.:biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559:

Tazz we're all waiting for the privilege of reading more of your wisdom. I understand your probably busy writing some of it on the bathroom wall at some truck stop in BFE. Or preaching it to someone on the radio who has the once in a lifetime opportunity of being within radio range of your "eco" truck. I understand your day is probably crammed full with endless conference calls with all the top truck manufacturers and mega fleet equipment managers (in between calls to your dispatcher and qualcomm messages) requesting your input on future truck design and purchases.:biggrin_25514::biggrin_25514:

Edit: Could you please spec out the perfect truck (make/model/engine/gears/tires ect) for me. We've only been doing this whole trucking thing since like the 40's when my grandpa had a milk truck, so I'm not in tune with all the new advancements. I'm hoping with your input I can soon stop the madness and actually be able to turn a profit one day (I'm really tired of eating bread and water to buy fuel)and I along with countless others know your just the man to show us!!

It really breaks my heart to hear this this debate, I got to drive a 379EXHD once in my short career, and it was more fun to drive than anything I can imagine. I don't know what it is about looking out over a long hood, but I had more fun in that than I probably would in that Veyron that was mentioned earlier, or any other modern exotic for that matter. And it is nice to be able to open the hood and see/be able to reach every component on the engine. The starter is right there, where as when I had to change it on my Mack CH, well, I don't even want to remember that! The way the grill attaches to the hood with all those rivets, reminds me of a classic locomotive. I grew up with a long time O/O as a neighbor, and all he's had were long hoods. My first ride in a truck was in an 86 359EXHD, and it left an impression on me that I will never forget...

Is there really a debate going on about "hoods"? Hoods? LOL.

I guess things are better out there than I thought, if a debate about trucks with longer hoods has grown legs this long.......

Maybe next we can debate about what color truck performs the best???

Well, I for one am glad to be out of my W9. Lot's of good things about it, but my 'slope nose, plastic, aero, tinkertoy, whatever' is a lot easier to navigate the cities, the tight docks and truck stops. Loved the ride of the W, but times change and a good seat makes up for the shorter wheel base.
More room inside my T2000, better bunk setup and better mileage. I like the better visability my POS has. But to each his own.
My truck is a tool to make money. Thats more important to me than what it looks like when my eyes are closed at night.

I would rather have a highly polished snap on with a smooth ratchet than a rust pitted click click made in china in my hand as a professional as far as tools go that's why I ride the KING OF THE ROAD W9
