I recently started driving a Peterbilt 378 dump truck, and I have some questions about this model. The hood doesn't look a WHOLE lot shorter than a 379's, is this truck a 119" BBC, but with a sloped hood instead of straight like the 379's? Also, on the 127" BBC, are the extra inches all in the hood, or are they divided up between the hood and the cab? Thanks for the help in advance, its nice to finally get to drive a Pete, I love the truck, but would like to know more about Peterbilts.

The main diff is that a 378's hood is Fiberglass and the 379's is Alum. The 378's are normally the 119" model not the long hood. 379's come both long and short hoods.

Right, but even on the short hood 379 there's no slope to the hood, correct? This one seems to slope down a little...

The pete 379 hood is 8 inches longer than the 378. If you look behind the front tire on a 379 you will see an additional peice or body work that isn't there on the 378.

Wow, so that extra eight inches is all in the hood, that's really amazing. I've yet to sit it a 389, with an even longer hood!
