There are a couple of towing hooks in the truck that I tried to install under the front bumper. I slid the hook into the slot but there doesn't seem to be a locking device to hold them in place, they just slide right out. Am I missing a piece to hold them in place or something else, thanks for the help. Truck is International Prostar.

There should be a big pin and a cotter pin. Isn't there a hole in it?

Nope no holes just a solid piece of metal. The end is round with two "wings" on the side.

If they are the ones I'm thinking about, see if they twist and lock once you have them in.

    Is this it??

Okay, they twist into place. Freightliner started using them too.

There was an article I seen that they are only rated at 9,000 lbs. Two of them would be just enough for the tractor. I guess they expect you to drop the trailer??

Thanks guys. I guess I wasn't putting the right mojo on them the first time I tried to turn them to lock them. Had no problem the second time. Thanks for the info on the weight limitation. Hopefully I won't need to be hauled out of a snowbank this year:)

9000 lbs. is more than the breaking stregth of a good sized chain. You are applying pull , not lifting off the ground. The hooks are placed horizontal, pushed clear in and turned to vertical to lock.

I liked the FLD setback axle better with the big pin through a receiver in the center of the bumper. Either way works.

If you can find one get a strap to pull with. Much safer than a chain.
