Last year I had to get a loaner truck. The guy who had it before me hadn't deleted any of his QC messages. Needless to say, he was yelling and screaming at his dispatcher because he wasn't making any money, and blaming his dispatcher and Prime for it. Two of the messages still in there were his last 2 weeks of fuel, one week was in the low 5's, the other in the high 4's (I don't think I could do that bad if I tried). I was worried about taking that truck out and running it for what was going to be a few weeks. Anyways, the 4 weeks I had that truck, I didn't get below 7.5MPG, and I was running heavy loads, and running west, mainly I70 and I40. So the driver can make a MAJOR difference in fuel on a truck.

    GSWx Thanks this.

One of my Centuries had a life average of less than 5 when I picked it up... got 6.23 the first trip out, and was up in the mid-sevens eventually. Its a lot of little things. That doesn't mean that you can't have a mechanical issue that will kill the fuel economy.

You have to go back through orientation during you Ace-1 upgrade. I just went through it. Hardest part is staying awake....

Having "gas" in the truck is bad.... especially when its too cold to roll down the windows...

Get a notebook and a ruler. Keep a fuel mileage logbook, make regular entries, and track your progress. You'll see large swings - lots of reasons from load weight to wind to mountains. But you should also see improvement over time.

Im sure with the bad road conditions coming with Winter it wont help much either. But thanks for the advice IP.

Why would you roll down the windows if you have gas? Its the finest and cheapest air freshener around...lol

I think he didn't want to risk the unknown factors when he knows that he has and can work a Cascadia (lease) truck at over 8mpg on a regular basis.

Thats a good question bc I was told a week ago by Jim w. and my rec that if things didn't pan out the way I liked that a simple phone is all it would take to come back to reefer.....even though I don't plan on making that call

Mexican food....yes keeping febreeze near by is always a plus
