Sounds like its' going well. As Bear said - get used to 90 you'll see a lot of it! Let's see if he lets you run through Chicago! Tell him you want to "shoot the gap" - he'll know what I mean! LOL
-
I've already ran Chicago on Friday. Fun had by one and all.
Glad to hear that your doing good. -
We are now at Richfield doing a 34 reset. We left South Glens Falls at 05:30 and arrived in Richfield at 22:30. I met my Trainer at 20:00 Thursday and I have already logged over 1000 miles wheel time! Hey Baritone we couldn"t "shoot the gap" in Chicago due to traffic congestion but my trainer let me go through downtown Milwaukee. What a beautiful city at night. We will deliver in Napanee on Monday at 08:00. You are so right Bear about the folks at South Glen Falls. They let us deliver a day early and immediately loaded us. They also let us take our 10 in the lot. Things have been going well. There has been a learning curve for me on shifting the 10. I stalled the Truck at one of the toll booths in NY
sixth to fifth giving me problems. My Trainer said "leave it behind you" but I think I will remember that one for life! I am getting more comfortable with the truck mile by mile. I just can"t get enough. I am learning sooo much about all aspects of the business. Stay safe everyone and I hope your having as much fun as I.

Oh that's the fun part when the gap is heavy! I agree Milwaukee is really a nice city at night - when the ball park is lit up and so on. How did you like the view at the Glenn Falls Location?
Something that might help with the downshifting........when slowing down - use your speed as your indicator. Example: when you are at 45mph downshift to 9th, 35 to 8th, 25 to 7th and so on. Also start slowing down much sooner than you normally do and you wont find yourself trying to break and down shift at the same time. Trust me that doesnt work well!
Try it and see if it helps! -
Thanks for the tips Baritone, sounds like you will make a great trainer. I hope you make the train the trainer session this time. I used the reset time to practice downshifting. My trainer took me driving around. What a difference 1 day can make! We went from Richfield to Neenah then over to Bear Creek where we got loaded with red cabbage. We popped back in at Richfield because the trailer we picked up had a license plate light bulb out.Ran into Woody at Richfield he had a broken windshield
Then it was to Coloma Mi. to deliver the cabbage. We are sleeping in the receivers lot tonight. Highlight of the day was rush hour through Milwaukee. That downshifting practice really paid off. Confidence is building now! Looking forward to some good miles tomarrow. Everyone be safe!

There's a view at South Glens Falls?
-
The hills were very pretty on the way up. The leaves are changing. Your right though Bear not much at South Glens Falls. The only thing I saw was the paper factory. Yesterday we started in Coloma Mi where we unloaded cabbage and reloaded pie filling. We ran that over to Effingham docked and grabbed an MT. Then we ran down to St Louis. Yep the bud plant! WOW! picked up a trailer and weighed out at 79960. We ran the beer up to Dayton and went to sleep early this morning. Really a pretty crappy day yesterday. I managed to get us out of St Louis and into Effingham but my downshifting is not good. One offramp everything goes well and then a traffic light or some other slow down and its grind city. I just cant pinpoint the problem. 45 =9 35=8 25=7 15=6 10= 5 tac to 15 slide it in. The higher gears seem easiest. Never a problem 10th to 9th or 9th to 8th. But the lower I go especially 6th to 5th I have problems. Backing I am enjoying. I have put everything in but my trainer says I overcorrect or under correct. I dunno it goes in the hole so I am holding onto my backing as a bright spot. I hope the shifting goes better today as I think my trainer is losing patience with me concerning my shifting. I am looking forward to a better day today. It just has to come together soon. Today will be day 6. And despite the struggles I am really enjoying the driving!

Hey on that going from 6th to 5th, rev up the rpm's less and see if that helps. With the T2000 I had, I had the same problem you described. Also I believe I went to 5th around 10mph if I aint mistaken. Hope this helps

Never mind I am a moran - I was thinking of NY. Sorry!
