FFE from orientation to solo fleet.

So I graduated today, was buried in the paperwork, and discovered a few things the recruiter said was not entirely correct.

The paperwork took about 30 minutes, however I feel like I just finished a timeshare sales pitch. The insurance offered is over $100 a week! BCBS for crying out loud. The other options are cheaper, however all are PPO/HMO.

So no insurance for me. Then a Colonial rep wants us to buy this or that. What happened to driving a truck? I guess it is like this everywhere. Orientation so far feels like a high pressure sales pitch.

If tomorrow is more of the same, some tough questions from me will have to be answered. One thing keeps repeating in my head...Have I made a horrible mistake?

The school was excellent, but so far the company has really dropped the ball. You want to be positive about a new job, one that will hopefully be your career, yet the reps from the company are just not putting forth a positive and friendly attitude. I have never seen disorganization to this level in an orientation. No schedule, just show up at 7am.

In fact we aren't even at the terminal, but at a hotel nearby. This just seems odd to me. But this is how they do it, so here we go.

I really hope it looks better tomorrow.

 

Looks like the BoA loan restructure wasn't enough. I have met 12 drivers that are processing out. They incredibly aren't angry or mad, just they look like they expected something. Now I know or at least understand the Academy's motives in training style.

We were not supposed to leave till Thur, however there are some that may enter the fleet tomorrow. Something just don't sit right here...

 

More research seems to indicate the stock drop is a direct result of the tractor and dry van sale to Celadon. I don't currently see the dip hanging around for too long.

Today completed orientation. One more meeting then the waiting game begins. One already knows he has a trainer, but seems personnel flubbed a few things. 3 left today, one will be back Monday, 2 others headded to Odessa for the oil patch. My what a menocholy feeling. Well I still have to get a few things at Wally world, stuff to bulky for Delta unless I paid 'em 65 more bucks... frackheads.

6 more weeks before I see home and a big shaker of Jack and Coke. There is a bar here, but if you go you're gone. Nothing wrong with a wee nip of the creature, but I guess most have no self control.

 

Most of them were acquired from Lisa and AE. They are for the most part going to Celadon, at least better than 80% of them. Most of the rest decided to retire, according to one of the retirees. FFE wanted to keep the division, but can't compete in that market. Plus the fact that if you have a van on, and only refer was available, you were out of luck.

 

Well I am in McAllen, TX waiting to load. This crackberry blows for typing. My trainer is a really great guy, and I am getting used to the FFE way of trucking. I am already next to postal about this Wi-Fi bullcrap at the truck stops. #### rip off.
