New radio

    Ok so I had a cobra 29 and then got a galaxy dx959 and was thinking about getting something else maybe one with a little more power do you guys got any suggestions

    Magnum raptor, has good power, There no SSB, but performs very well, good range, transmit and recieves very nice

    keep the cobra 29 and just take it to a good cb shop and get it peeked and tuned. Those radios are in my opinion the best out there. They are simple, work great. and can give you all the power you need.

    Yeah my cobra took a poop on me I had everything done to it with an echo board put in I might just get that fixed again

    Agree, and if that isn't enough buy a small linear, (no need to go over 300-400 watts. I run a 200 watt.) put a variable power adjustment on your 29, and you will have all the power you need

    Yeah I wish I would have just fixed my 29. I was mesmerized by the radios with the freq counters but now I realize I don't need it

    NOTHING wrong with a 959 If you need power go get a amp ....

    Yeah I don't think I need that much power I had the 959 peaked and tuned and put in an echo board. Years ago I had an amp that I drove with my 29 but I got rid of that.

    Ok well when I started this thread everything was ok. But today after I loaded at a chicken plant in al today I went around back to the scale. While I was checking my axles I looked out in front of my truck and my antenna fell off so I made it to Knoxville tonight and got all the parts and put it back together I also replaced the coax and I think that helped big time
