There is no way of getting a correct answer for your question. Its the same as asking what car or truck is the best. Just depends on the individuals preference. Just like any automobile the big truck manufacturers all have their good and bad points and there really isn't a "supreme" one. If there were a truck that was "supreme" then you see every major company out there using them as their only trucks.
So the answer to your question just boils down to personal preference.

You can get every truck spec'd the same and your statement is quite true. Volvo experimented with putting their own engines in the trucks, mine has a Volvo engine, and its pretty good but all of our newer trucks have Cummins engines.

A friend of mine runs up in The Yukon year round. On the dirt and rough roads plus the ice in winter she swears by a Peterbilt. She claims its the only truck that stands up to the harsh conditions up there. I think a Mack would do just as well but I've never driven up there for an extended period

Well apparently she has watched Ice Road Truckers. Hugh drives an International!

Never said any such thing. Go sit in the corner. -
You never "SAID" it but you implied it when you said "Peterbilt - Good for ego stroking."

I've driven most all of them in 45 years on the road. Like Chompi said I think its a metter of personal preference. Of all I've driven my favorite by far was a Western Star. Big, well laid out sleeper, wide cab, extreemly quiet and well insulated. Handled like a dream on curves and in the mountains. Only drawback I can think of was it was a little heavy. Just my opinion.

What year was your favorite Western Star? And what were the specs on it?

07, 515 Detroit, 13 speed, headache, rigged for flatbedding, no speed controler, don't know how fast it would run, 85 mph tops for me, lots of rpms left
