IMHO, cooling is not an issue unless you are a "PC gamer" and/or have a huge cpu AND gpu and can justify the need for these in a truck. Any basic cpu/gpu can run a DVD movie or stream a netflix movie, although most intels or amd's will warm up significantly decoding video data for 2 hours in a PC environment. The Macbook Pro I have has no cooler because it doesn't get hot and need one. It has never felt even warm to the touch. And the battery life (if that's an issue) is far better than most PC's of comparable screen size. Again, with me, it's about an almost instant lid up, to working time and NOTHING beats a Mac. However, I realize some of one's preferred software may not be available for Mac.

The way I see it, if you're going to own an I-Phone, you may as well own a Mac, as well especially if you're very mobile. Also, if you have a favorite I-Phone app, it's probably available for the Mac notebooks, as well. For the sake of full disclosure, I run Windows Phone cell, and only PC/Windows on all my desktops at home.

I'm not bias against any computer. I currently have 4 ( lol, just bought over the years ) 1 Macbook Air, 1 Macbook Pro, 1 desktop and 1 Laptop Toshiba.

Out of the 4 I have the 2 Macs have never failed me, nor have they slowed down ONE BIT. On the other hand, both PC's are horrible slow ( even though I barely use my desktop and there is nothing on it! )

I will have to vote for Mac.
    1. It may be over priced but it cuts down on waiting times, starting times and down times!
    2. I have owned my Pro for 5 years now and STILL not have had one problem!
    3. I have owned 5 PC's through out the years and it's always the same thing - they start to slow down to the point where I want to kill myself because I am impatient when I have to deal with computers

kwants ... you're right, "stealing is stealing" and I fail to see how that makes it seem right to you. Frankly, I have better things to do with my time than waste valuable time waiting on the cracker or looking for a wifi signal to get me into somebody's lame, slow WAN connection overloaded with porn surfers. I spend, $50 for a MiFi and 1st 5 gigs/month included, ATT wired wifi hotspots everywhere are free too, no waiting, no searching, so long as I have 3g ATT service. Furthermore, there are too many open wifi networks around. If I go a day without laptop access to the internet, it's not the end of the world for me.

More often than not, a good 3g WAN connection will deliver more throughput than most wired WAN "hot spots" with choked down speed, often performing no better than running over a dial-up connection.

My best luck has been with Dell Latitude models. They have a shock mounted hard drive and they hold up well. Some nice amenities are available for drivers such as an ambient light sensor that dims the screen at night and a lighted keyboard.

When I was in the market for a new laptop, I considered the Mac but was nervous because I was so comfortable with a PC.

Sure, you can "get more" with the same money when you buy a PC, the operating system advantages of an Apple well outperform a PC in my opinion.

I will NEVER go back to a PC again, NEVER.

Unfortunately I use a PC for work. I work at a Fortune 500 company and they are considering going to Apple on a world wide basis.

I understand the Mac Book air theory, but I like the 17 inch MacBook Pro.

    The battery life is GREAT!

If you really really want Windows, the Mac comes with an option to install Windows and during boot up you can select the Mac or Windows option, or you can buy Parallels for Mac

and run Windows side by side with OSX

Spend the money on the Apple Extended Warranty for that extra bit of comfort.

If I were you, I would not be posting things like this. Cracking into someone's network can land you into very serious trouble here in the US.

Just remember that their are people that know more than you and you can be tracked.

Considering that most people do not do Photoshop, Call of Duty type gaming, or any of the other things that like to suck up serious CPU, something like one of the cheaper Windows based systems or, my preference, a Macbook Air is more than enough for their needs. I basically use mine for internet stuff, keeping my spreadsheets close at hand and updating them as I conduct business, email, doing some simple gaming, and having a portable 1TB drive to keep movies and tv shows on to watch. I would bet that the vast majority of laptop users do roughly the same thing. For this need, my Air is perfect. There are many other cheaper options available. But considering the general public is not as qualified as the normal IT specialist, the Apple products offer the easiest way and friendliest experience. Heck, one of my majors in college (oh, so long ago) was Computer Science. But I also learned from my other major in Mathematics, is that if there is an easier way to do things, choose the easier way. In that vain, the Mac will offer a better experience for the AVERAGE user.

Oh, if one is into some photo or movie editing, Apples iPhoto, iDVD, iMovie, and other products do a pretty stellar job of getting things done. And they will run fine on every model of Mac that is available. And some of these products, like iPhoto and iMovie are included with the system for free. Unless you are a graphics designer, there is no need for the more exotic photo and movie editing products.
