No problem driving and following the speed limits.

I draw the line at the rest.

You want them apparently, because you think you need the bigger protection of the government.

Really wish you could make up your mind on this.

Then again, it is your right to such an opinion.

Others will see no need to wish for such intrusion.

More and stricter regulation is not the answer. The answer is to hire better quality drivers and train them to a higher standard. However, that would require better pay across the board so the chances of that are slim and none. While some of us make an above-average income, the reality is that many drivers make starvation-wages. And who will work for that? The people that can't get a better job because they are in most, but not all, cases unsuitable candidates for anything else.

OK couple of flaws there let's just expose the obvious.

DUI we apparently disagree because as you stated the rest is intrusive.

As well as equipment (and no I am not talking about your infamous sunglasses inspection and ticket). I have no problem with minimum requirements for equipment though will conceded some of the lighting and conspicuity laws are quite anal. Seems you find them intrusive. I guess we should just hope people maintain their equipment.

Minimum insurance? Nah you have no need for that intrusive bs on public roads huh? In fact why even issue a #### license. Just one big alli alli in come free, road warrior, better get some kevlar underoos to turn your family loose on huh?

Reckless driving. Someone weaving back and forth just assuming you will yield? OK by you huh? Remember you said speed limits and that is it?

Gonna make those intersection Survivor the Real Version though. Guess the one with the highest caliber wins in your perfect world.

Are we going top fix the stupid with laws and regs? Not all no. Hell you still have super truckers committing suicide burying themselves in bridge abutments weekly because "NO ONE WILL TELL ME WHEN TO DRIVE". But where the technology is available we should limit the depths to which they can harm others.

It is not about big government no matter how much you would like to make it so to further meaningless bs. It is about regulating the conduct on the public highways and limiting the proper use of them.

So we are back where we started laws to much to bare? Fell free to suspend your privilege(license) voluntarily.

It is a simple concept. Government does have a role to play. I'll give you one last chance to give an answer that does not involve the childish mantra of BIG GOVERNMENT.

As usual, you blow things to proportions to cover yourself.

I stated simply that I do not feel the need for intrusions on the cell phone.

You obviously must have the government come in and tell you not to use it.

    Fine, you need it.

    I do not.

As far as comments on my case. Be advised, I have NEVER been written up on an inspection except for the flat tire I got before entering a scale.

The other 6 inspections were good and got stickers.

You have to bring in DUI's and others to smoke the air.

You do not want them to use phones, get out of my truck. It is none of your business.

Yep no answer. You set the conditions.

And you were not the one telling me that you would avoid weigh stations because of your glasses on your physical or not on there but on your head, or was it in your pocket but not your waiver? I don't recall but I seem to remember your punch line was "they were sunglasses".

That was not you? I will admit I have trouble remembering who tries what argument.

What you do to yourself in your truck on your property is of course your business. Once you enter public roads it becomes their business to a degree.

They want to ban in cab use of cell phones. out here in NY a flatbedder was pulled over well behind the white line on the side of 87 north coming up out of the city this week. He had pulled over to make a cell phone call when a car cut across 2 lanes and hit him is the a55, from what i heard so hard that she got lodged under the tires of the trailer. Hmmmm, soon they are going to want us to pull off the highway and into a parking lot to use the phones. Had he just thrown his headset on and kept rolling it may not have happened.

I guess if a driver decides to scratch their rear, it should not be done because you believe it wrong. Better contact your representative and get a new law.

Next you will be having a meeting to have a law for stopping the coffee drinking in the truck or soda. Better get a bigger government.

I am glad that people like you are few and far between. Most normal people do not need the government as much as you do.

To continue this discussion with you is no better than talking to a wall.

But, I always am glad to allow others their opinions.

Good day to you and best of luck to you and the larger government you are asking for.

Depending on the regs. If the regs keep people from causing accidents then yes I am for the regs.

If the regs are just for you to protect yourself, then no. Like seat belt regs, helmet regs etc.

I used my seat belts long before they were a rule.

As far as helmets, one of the first accidents I went on as an EMT was when the motorcycle struck a deer at 55 mph.

    No helmets were involved.

If I were to buy a motorcycle, I would wear a helmet due to this accident.

The cell phone ban, I do not see it as stopping accidents.

After all, it has been known that reading newspapers, doing makeup, reading books, watching tv or videos and such which are done by 4 wheelers and they are not stopping them.

    It is only about money.

Hence the reason for the signs on the side of the roads. Emergency stopping only, a phone call hardly counts as an emergency.
