    Hello All,

I am just curious about APUs. I have seen a lot on the market, new and used. They all seem to go for about $10k new, and $7-8k used.

I am wondering how many O/O's would go with an Independent if the initial cost was in the $5k neighborhood?

    Thanks!

Standalone? Not tied into the coolant of the truck engine?

Then mine's an independent. If need be, I can run a power cord from my inverter to block heater.

I think he is talking about not name brand (TK, Carrier).

5k is still a lot for company that could be out of business the week after you bought the unit.

Couple mid-market guys I might consider.

And just saw in Truck Paper used TK's intalled for $5k.

I have an APU that was made by a company that was sold 2 or three times to a different company...it isn't that old can't find a #### thing or part for it, let alone someone to service it...go with a well established manufacturer!

It cam on my rig when i bought it used...would go with one of the majors if I had to buy one now that I have had to deal with an off brand.

$9,500 for a new Tri-Pac installed at Sikeston TK.....

I have seen used one's for around $5k as Bill said, but they have a lot of hours on them. And I have heard/seen many that have some type of warranty issue in the first year, let alone one that is 5yrs old. NO THANKS!!!!

Promax out of Indianapolis is supposedly a good one too, and they are around $7,500 installed but I personally do not know anyone who has one.
