Not a big fan of Walmart myself, do go there occasionally though.
Just pointing out that all the "Don't haul cheap freight" people are mostly hypocrites.
On nearly everything purchased in life, price is the starting point. Why this is thought to be different in the trucking world is beyond me.

There's also truth to the saying "You get what you pay for " I've read plenty of complaints in forums by people that chose carriers by the lowest rate and the freight is delivered late , damaged , or simply disappears . Complaints about rogue movers are common . I even read of a shipper that contracted a shipper through UShip . He lost contact with the carrier and later found out the "carrier" had his truck impounded and towed at a scale for hauling without authority . The towing company ended up auctioning off the truck , trailer , and load .
I think it was here a while back that a carrier with new authority asked for help when he jackknifed a load of lumber. He was at the impound yard of the towing company and some of the damaged lumber was still on the shoulder where he wrecked . I'm sure he gave the shipper a great low rate though .truckerdave1970, volvodriver01 and 4_Wheel_Meal_Deal Thank this. -
A little common sense will go a long way.
If I see they have decent equipment, find out who else they have been hauling for, then it has always worked out just fine, haven't been burned yet. -
I am sure that those drivers that haul cheap freight do make it in the O/O world . NOT
And I think some people that haul cheap freght do notice how much work there is in this job and how much they are being ripped off by shippers and brokers like yourself but by then its to late. -
I found this article on latest lawsuit regarding Cardinal Logistics

Sure, if one more SOB offers me 12 bucks an hour or 37 cpm and acts like that's a great thing. I mean really? Would you ask an Electrician, or a Plumber to come work for you for 12 bucks an hour? Probably not... Drivers, you are in a specialized lic. trade, which will put you in JAIL if you skrew-up slightly, vs any other occupation. They will SUE you, take your Freedom, and have another warm butt in the seat before your cell door is slammed shut and the ink on the forclosure of your house is dry!
Everything is geared to be the DRIVERS fault. Sign This, Sign That, you agree to this, and we can terminate you for that..
That's just the company, then you have the DOT squinting with a smirk on their face..
I can make 12 bucks an hour cashiering at the stinking mall.
Then I could Drink and Smoke Dope with the rest of the population, and cut truck drivers off while stoned and texting and not worry about how it will affect MY record because as a cashier, Insurance don't matter!
