Kinda feel like I'm beating a dead horse here, but..... WHERE (can someone point out) does it show in the contract or where can I find written documentation that this re-imbursement or co-pay will occur. This is Texas..does that make a difference, because it plainly states that I will be making payments for 36 months and no mention of their contribution. It just makes me leary of signing and I'm curious as to what everyone else sees on theirs.

They may have a different contract at that school in Dallas, I know they have had different ones at different schools based on where you live and I think that probably stems from their hiring needs in that area at the time or state laws.
Your best to contact Schenider direct and ask them, their pretty good at answering questions.

Vintage Cowgirl, My sister and brother in law attended Schiender driving school about 10 yrs ago. I have been driving nearly 30 yrs. And have trained many drivers myself ( am presently a driver trainer for the company I work for). I recomended to my sister to go to Schnieder for the reasons of there training facility. and the fact that I didnt feel comfoftable training a family member. Schiender has an excellant training program.. they are one of few companies that use a skid pad to train students on emergency stopping on wet road conditions. Also they have a truck equipted with outrigger wheels that simulates what a rollover would feel like.
So I'm sure you can see where you will be getting your moneis worth in training. Cowgirl if there rates have increased over years your still getting a good deal some of these driving schools are charging 10,000 $$ for training and dont nearly give the training they should !!! Best of luck Ma'am jetgang :biggrin_25525:

Thanks so much for everyone's input. Your right...I just wanted honest advice from people who had experienced the school and contract for themselves compared to what responses I might get from a recruiter with a vested interest. Thanks again everyone.

Hi! My wife and I just finished Schneider's training Academy and highly recommend it. The training we recieved was far superior to the so-called CDL mills out there. They teach you everything you need to know and more....not just what you need to pass your state's CDL exam. :biggrin_25525:

As for the contract....you sign a bunch of contracts your first day of training. Included is one that states you pay only $12.50 a week for 72 weeks for a total of $900.00. Don't get lost in all the downloadable stuff....

Schneider also gives you 3 days to back out without any obligation, so if you get to the training center and don't like what you hear, or are not satisfied with the training they send you home.

    Be safe....

Thank you!! That was just what I needed!! It almost seems the more research you do the more confusing it all seems. And, good luck to you and your wife.

Walk into the local unemployment office, or call, and see if you qualify WIA (workforce investment act). It's a federal program that is meant to get more workers into certain fields, and trucking is one of them.

Many states also have trucking school payments, check your state's dot or employment agency for information.

You can get training at a community college , you'd be giving back the government its own money, rather than paying for a job. Just something to think about.

Hey Vintage I won't be going to the school because of that ticket issue that has to go away by the local solicitor. Anyway I did call them before I found out I couldn't go and asked about the contract. They told me that the contract that you and I were reading was only for if we backed out of the other contract for them paying for the training. I hope you do well with it. I was going to be with them but God has other plans so I will do as lead.

Well, I think you are right. I starting the training with the community college Monday...so thats seems to be the better choice. More money but give you some independence. but, boy, it's just amazing how much recruiter for the school pushes Swift. Like it is the best company out there with thier "comfort zones, etc". I'm so glad I've found this site.
    I will keep you posted.
