Are you talking about the red and yellow package delivery van's DHL?

Your post is LESS than informative. All I got out of it is, you accepted a job somewhere.....and apparently did not ask before hand what you'd be making?!?

Because; had I taken an interview with DHL, and when I asked the interviewer what to expect for pay.....and they said $110.00 per day.....then I'd ask how long is the day.....and he/she would say "it varies per route"......I'd say "ball park it"......they'd say anywhere from 10 to 14 hours.....I'd do the math very quickly right there, right then in my head (because I'm an adult, and as such can do this very easily)----I would have told them to pound sand, and never would have taken the job.

You people that jump into an hourly job head first (OTR trucking is a LITTLE different and we all know that) without getting all the facts before accepting it are just killing me....lust killing me.

Heck; I even ask over the phone when being called in for an interview: "What is the pay rate before we even waste each others time?"-----The usual answer is: "We can discuss that at the interview."-----As to which my reply would then be: "I'd very much like to work for you; but I have to make sure I can make atleast (name my minimum hourly wage), because that's what I need to live on."------The common reply is one of two: 1). "We're in the ball park." or 2). "We're not quite paying that much."
Cut and dry right there----accept the interview, or decline it.

On the same note; I get sick of these perspective employers 'beating around the bush' about what the job pays. Just tell people up front! Nobody knows better than the person that pays their own bills, what kind of salary they require to live.
Better yet; put the hourly rate right there in the ad! You will not be wasting ANYONES time, because anyone that is willing to apply, MUST be willing to accept the hourly rate.
When I was looking for work outside of the trucking industry (or even hourly inside the trucking industry), I always got the (example)"We pay $17.50 per hour".....then get to the interview, and they say "We'll start you at $10.35 an hour, and you can make UP TO $17.50 an hour after your first year."
See? Not ####### worth it to me!!! You wasted my time!!! I can't live on $10.35 an hour for even one week, let alone one full year with a "chance" of making the wage I was willing to accept when I accepted the interview!!!

If you fell victim to the ol' bait and switch; well, I feel sorry for you. If they told you $110.00 a day up front, and you didn't do your math on ALL possible hours....then you got what you diserved.

Yes this is the Red and Yellow DHL trucks, they also have 26ft straight trucks. Not to sure if your familiar with unemployment in FL is at 13% highest inthe nation.... so when a job comes you take it.
They also told me if you worked overtime you would be compensated. WIth weekends off and an avg of a 9 hour day promised with 1 hour lunch so your working approx 8 hrs a day 40 hrs a week. Thats $13.75 an hour in FL thats not all that bad. The problem is its far from 8 hrs a day and you travel 300 400 miles a day back and forth over a large area for deliveries and random 1 hr call in pick ups you do not have time on most days to take a break.
Managers dont care... :"its the way it is be happy you have a job" and they do not pay overtime. Im looking to contact an attorney for a class action as this cannot be legal... i am not a contractor or a vendor, I am an employee and there has to be overtime rule and legal rights. We have progressed too far as a society to allow people to work for free on a flat rate. I mean isnt this why unions were born?
It is insult to injury when the owners show up in 65k trucks, business suits and expensive watches and the excuse for no raise or benefits in the economy... they are like latino miami gangster wannabees.... and this is by far the worst company I have ever worked for direct hit logistics dh partners... they keep changing names because everytime we go to international or macco to pick up trucks at the shop they never pay the bills.... anyway i dont owe anyone anything...im a novice on here but been in the business for 17yrs and my only hope is that some reds this before they have to live the lie for themselves.

Hopefully Ive explained enough and I do not want anyone to learn this dirtbag outfit the hardway....

This was the company that the owner was a Hugh Hefner type, owned an island, was 70-80 years old with 20 year old women all over,
He died a few years ago.
    That guy was wealthy.

1). "Overtime rule & legal rights"
The only rule I know of in Iowa is, no company can "force you" to work more than 15 hours a day (non-logbook, non-trucking).

2). "Work on a flat rate"
You just described "SALARY"....and it happens everywhere, every day.Willingly.

3). "Is't this why Unions were born"
Sure....but you have to work for a Union outfit, to get Union benefits via contract agreed upon between company and Union.

Good luck with the "Class Action Lawsuit" dude. Ain't gonna happen.

don't ya think the outfit would want to have a person in first to have an interview and maybe base the person's wage on their experience?

Save your breath too, if your guy is regulated by the DOT then he is exempt from paying o/t to certain employees under the FLSA ( 1933 )

Good luck and let us know how it goes.
