I delivered to a small power plant near Shreveport today. What a nightmare. They warned it was tight coming in and it was. 2 lane highway, middle of blind curve and you have to go into oncomin 55mph lane and turn as wide as possible to have your trailer straight to enter the 12 ' wide railroad tunnel. I got in just fine, however once in I realized there was very little possibility I could get out. They even laughed about it and told me they'd get the forklift. Needless to say, even after bringing the passenger side of the truck up over the curb, dumping the rear axle, I still needed the trailer to be swung another foot to clear the tunnel. Forklift and numerous sideshifts later and I got out. Some pics for your amusement.

Hard to see, but the grass was actually an embankment. I was on it as much as I dared, without tearing up my ramps mounted under my trailer or my boxes between the spread.

Not sure about the truck driving school comment, but I did take geometry in high school. I had about 8 inches on each side of my mirrors in the tunnel and I'm 71' long. 265" wheelbase and 48 spread step. The operators were well versed in side shifting trailers as they have to do it with most platform and RGN trailers.

The guy that loaded and delivered before me yesterday had a 53 without a dump, got stuck pulling out of there and then knocked their unused guard shack off its blocks. Bennett driver they called a supertrucker.
    Fun times for sure.

New driver politely asks for proper advice, and the first response is a useless jab. :biggrin_25513:

Where do you get new driver from? But that is what I was thinking when I read his post. O/O since 2001 and former fleet owner, but yeah I got my CDL from a Cracker Jack box last week.

While technically you could back out to the road, you have to go back the way you came on the road, which would not be possible backing out, not to mention a 55mph 4 wheeler coming around the turn and ruining everyone's day if you tried.

I posted this just for some humor about ridiculously tight places. I handled it properly and there was never a question about that. I was hoping to spawn maybe a epic thread with more pics of bad deliveries from other drivers, instead well...
