Why are these companies so picky about self employement? I owned a company with two stores from 02-2003 - 03-2011. I am having them drill me about the ownership and I am having to jump thru hoops to prove it. Prime has wanted Schedule K's and C's from the company and W2's plus trade references for both stores. Why they need so much?

Not to sound rude but they can. In todays economy companies can be picky they can be selective of who they take. Plus with the TSA restrictions on hazmat and twic you have to be clean and have a positive work history. I have been employed with the government for the past 20 years and I had to provide all the same stuff to get hired. I think its just part of the game you either play or sit on the bench.

I think Federal Internal Revenue Service Tax Returns should be good enough. I have never had any company for any reason question my tax returns and not enough evidence of the ownership. They have the company tax returns plus my personal returns. This wasn't self employment or sole proprietorship or anything. It was a Corporation with multiple retail locations in several counties, a warehouse that covered our web site along with Shopatron, 28 employees and an office building plus I was only part owner. I think it is just a little ludicrous how they are drilling me. Today I was told they needed copies of the business license for County and City, 3 trade references, 3 employees and 3 customers. For god sakes those Federal IRS Tax Returns are proof enough for any Federal, State, Local Municipality and private company.

I'm going through this as well trying to get a job with System Transport. My wife and I spent yesterday afternoon gathering scanning and emailing all these corroborating documents.

The only thing I can come up with is that these companies are jumpy when it comes to complying with the federal regulations regarding work history. I think they are scared of hiring someone who may have been an outlaw trucker for the past 10 years and falsified their tax returns to cover their tracks.

    I don't know...
