Since you do not yet have a CDL, this is not classified as a failed test or refusal under DOT standards.
You will need to find a different school and start again, unless you can convince your present school to start again.

 

Peeing in a cup is part of the business. If this is a problem for you, consider carefully whether you want to pursue this career or not. Yes, they have the right to observe you. Thank all those ingenious folks who came up with so many ingenious ways to fool the test.

Some people have trouble peeing on command- I'm not judging you for that. I used to have trouble with it myself, even when I wasn't observed. But drug testing is something you will be required to do often as a truck driver. And failure to provide a sample for ANY reason is considered refusal to test. No matter if you were uncomfortable being observed, no matter if the person administering the test was rude, no matter what. When you are required to provide a urine sample, that's what you need to do.

 

Anytime I know Im going to be taking a drug test that day I try to drink as much water as I can and hold it in. Learned that lesson when one time years ago, for a drug test for Roadway, I didnt have to piss at all and ended up at the clinic for 3 hours chugging water. And they will only allow you a certain amount of water.

 

Thats what I do...heck, I sit out in the lobby chugging water until the last minute. So when the time comes their not waiting on me and Indon't have to worry about nerves getting in the way either.

 

Can't you just get a blood sample or hair follicle done?

 

I was leased to a company that did their own tests. They caught me at the terminal after just taking a shower and using the bathroom. I was there for 4 hours and a few failed attempts before being able to go. Do not ever, ever, ever, ever walk out of drug test because you feel humiliated or whatever. once you get a CDL, you will end your career on the spot doing something so childish.

 

Buy a fake genitalia from a smoke shop with a connecting bag of artificial urine, that way they wont actually be looking at the real deal. Make it a different skin color for comedic value (optional).

 

Thus the reason they are observed.

 

CDL or not I am almost positive that is considered a failure. Check on the DOT website and see if you can find something in there about that. You really want to make 100% sure either way because if you pay for school and it is a failure you are screwed!
