Hope he wasn't watching stuff on his computer !!!!!

Roehl may have been following too close ?
-
May have been?
Is there any doubt.
Everyday, we see drivers following too close. It's probably the greatest violation out on the road with trucks. -
Prayers out to the families involved.
10 people in a minivan is a tight fit. -

What sucks is even though that gap is closed by 4 wheelers it's still OUR FAULT! Even with some drivers trying to cover their butts through dash cams it still affects our records and worse, our lives!
On a positive note I did see a person pulled over and cited for "cutting off" a truck in GA! Kudos to those local cops for doing the right thing.tech10171968 Thanks this. -
The fact of the matter is YOU are required to operate your vehicle in a safe manner and keeping a safe following distance is paramount to safe stopping.
Yes, people cut in all the time. It's part of the job. But that doesn't give license to truckers that crawl up other vehicles butts, bully their way thru traffic by intimidation or just following too close because they aren't paying attention.
Heavy traffic can be a pain, but you can maintain a safe following distance most of the time.
The biggest problem I see isn't in heavy traffic, it's out on the highway. I see big trucks less than 50 feet off the tail of the next truck...in some cases, even closer!
I see big trucks bear down on some "four wheeler" to move him out of the way.
I've also seen the results of trucks following too close. Most of the time, it's a banged up front end and another truck's messed up trailer bumper, but others, like this one, turns into a disaster.
There is no excuse for tailgating. NONE!
It can happen when someone cuts in, but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the careless, bullying, ignorant slob that acts like he's the only one on the road or at least the only one that anyone else should care about.sgfulton83, formertaxidriver, sewerman and 6 others Thank this. -
There's no way to know from the news stories if he was following too close or just not paying attention. One hell of an impact though.

Obviously Emulsfied you never drove Richmond to NYC.I have had people driving 95 because they think thats what I 95 means cut in front of my 379 and dissapear under the hood they were so close. My prayers go out to the families also and to the family of the Roehl driver. It would be extremely difficullt to live the rest of ones life after that.
Hanadarko, slim shady and old-school Thank this.
