I'm already for the responsiblities, sure it maybe tough at first, but I'm sure with time I'll get use to it. I'd like to hope so. To me, its a breath of fresh air from working in the restaraunt business for nearly 7 years.

You have anxiety and stress problems and you want to be a truck driver?
You have NOT done any reading about trucking in this or any other website have you?

You have gotten some great advice and some BAD advice about "you do not have to put meds on anything."
    WRONG!!!
You MUST put the meds you are currently taking on your long form medical form.
If your company asks if you take ANY prescribed medicines (That Medical Marijuana does NOT count!) you should not lie about and give them the information. Not giving them something they ask for can be called falsification of a job app. You can update that information with safety when and if it changes.

Main reason for disclosing these meds is if any are not DOT compliant such as has a "Do NOT Operate" clause or sticker on the label they will disqualify you from driving a CMV and for good reason.

But still. You NEED a freaking pill to control stress and anxiety? This is NOT the job for you! No! Really! You are pushing the intelligence standard here!

If you get stressed out and need a pill then stop wasting your money on a CDL school! This job is about the most stressful job next to being shot at on a battlefield!

With all the crap piled on you from dispatch and their insane ways of "talking" you into taking a load while you have no hours left on the log book to having to worry because of sitting stopped on a road waiting for a major accident to be remover or waiting on 5 feet of snow and 1000 cars and trucks being stuck in that 5 feet of snow to moron and arse hole shippers, receivers and other drivers and bosses you are NOT taking on a job sewing pretty flowers on blankets!

Not to mention, God forbid you are involved in an accident that a life is lost and lets say was NOT your fault BUT because you are in a lawsuit target rich environment called "truck driver" you will be drug over the coals even if innocent and as soon as that prescription is found, your arse is going to see stress and anxiety you've never dreamed of! And that is only if you were not at fault! What if you WERE at fault and kill someone with that 32,000 pounds of moving metal and plastic? Want some stress and anxiety? You'll have so much they might put you into those long sleeved ugly shirts because you'll become a hazard to yourself!

NOT to mention all those DOT scale houses you have to cross hoping that your lottery number does NOT come up for the "pull around back" winnings!

Those are just a few of the things that can happen in this slightly stressful job! There is so much stress on a daily basics that you are taking one hello of a risk!

Do yourself a favor. Either learn to control your stress with bio feedback (yes it CAN be done! I do it due to MY freaking medical problems) and get the heck off the pills!

I am known for being a hard arse in TTR. I cut no slack and sugar coat nothing. Yes the above is a little hard but it's better you look into trucking a lot deeper than what you have done and then decide if you want to join this nuthouse called trucking OR get a better doctor and therapist that can ween you off of those meds that could cause you more problems down the road! You need to learn how to de-stress and to CHILL THE F OUT! Really, you need to control that body better and your mental state without meds.

It can be done and you won't have this stress on you about those pills that are supposed to keep you from stressing out which in MHO ain't doing their job! Are they?

Think about it and make a decision later. Just make a better one other than the ones you have made!

Have to agree with Rollover a little. If you are currently taking meds for stress and anxiety I highly recommend thinking about something else. At the very least you should check with your Dr. about this venture.

Trucking is very, very stressful and being away from your family for a month at a time is going to drive you nuts. If you are looking to get away or for some kind of job escape, believe me, this is not it. Not posting this to be negative but it is something I think you should really reconsider.

You are going to end up hating this career choice and will then be forced to push because of money owed and family obligations. This will really add to the stress and anxiety. You are also going to be gone for the holidays and out driving in conditions of which you aren't used to in your everyday life. Once again compounding the stress and anxiety.

Hope you don't take these posts in a negative light. I wish nothing but the best for you and would like to see you succeed but I think you should really focus your intentions on something a little less stressful.

Good luck in whatever your decision. If you decide to keep on this path we're all here to answer your questions.
