Getting home will depend on your dispatcher and what you want to make. If you live near Birmingham, Atlanta, Chicago or Pittsburg you could probably get home most weekends. Give NJ a call in their Dallas recruiting office. I ran into her at the Dallas Truck Show. I knew her when she worked out of Trussville (Birmingham). She will give you the straight answers that you want. My information about CRST Malone is several years old. Since she has been with them for so many years she will have current information and could advise you.

As Gman stated it all depends on where you live. Seeing that you live in Az. that might be tough. I live in SC, and get home every weekend. I usually leave out Monday morning and get home Friday night. The last three weeks I have averaged $1734 to the house. I am doing the LP program, if your a O/O you could likely do better.

Thanks, I do live in Az right now, However I will be moving home to South East Alabama in the next year or so. Your take home sounds good to me so I may look into that. I dont own a truck now as I have been out of trucking for about 10 years. I will be going back into it but realize I will need to do the newbie thing all over again unless I buy my own truck and run my own authority. Thanks for all the replies, it certainly helps with my business plan. keep em coming ==== Semper Fi! 1981-1992

I agree with runningman, I am doing pretty good here as a LP owner. Last week I only pulled 3 loads with the holiday and one day at the shop for service and took home $1,500 bucks. So far this week I am on my second load and have already grossed 4700 to the truck which will give me about 1800 take home.

There is money to be made here if you know how to work it. If you need a dispatcher to tell you where to go then stay a company driver, this is your business and you need to be able to use the tools available and have some sales savey to maximize your income.

I only use my dispatcher for my required calls and to load my fuel card, and some occasional advise. My wife works the loadboard from home and I work the phones with the agents.

It does suck that you cannot chose your truck, but they will fix anything that is wrong with it, plus for the first two years of the lease you will have a bumper to bumper warranty the a limited warranty for the last year. Your payments will vary from 185 wk to 295 wk depending on the year and miles of the truck you get.

There is no force dispatch, they want LP trucks to stay in the "box" (I10 to I80 & I95 to I35) getting outside the box will make it difficult to find loads but not impossible. The two loads I have this week are outside the box.

Many drivers will tell you that the fuel mileage sucks for these trucks but that depends on how you drive. The owner that had my truck previously could not get above 5mpg.... Right now I am averaging about 6.9, but I drive the truck with fuel mileage and expenses in mind.

Many people try the LP route and fail, but many succeed as well. Your success will only be limited to the work you put into it. Just keep in mind that not everyone can do this, there is no shame in that.
