I used to do that myself. Got tired of the blank looks tho. hehe Its amazing, just how few drivers know of this site and others like them.

Well three weeks solo and all is going great. Got my wife onboard to pick up some of the slack with the qualcomm and mapping work and my DM is keeping me rolling hard. Been broke down here in TX a few days, but up and going first thing tomorrow morning and then a load back to Sacramento on monday. Nothing to complain about. Keep on truckin folks and be safe.. remember snow and rain season is here.... keep it on the road...
Lady K and Panhandle flash Thank this. -
This is not only great advice for trucking but in life in general. Yes there are some people out there "that there is no pleasing them", but most of the time if you go through life and different situations with that type of attitude a lot of things will work out in your favor!
-
Thanks Icecube. Yes it helps to do that anywhere in your everyday life. A smile goes a lot further than a smurck!
Ruger, just like LadyK said, BREATH! Also relax. You are going to do fine man! Its just driving. Take your time, and go SLOW! Also a few things that they look for when testing;
Check your mirrors constantly! I believe its 6-8 seconds. Don't forget to do that.
Look WAY AHEAD! You can even point out obvious potential hazards and let the instructor know why you are slowing for a stale green light and such. This is called the "SMITH SYSTEM".
Don't forget your seatbelt.
Toot the horn before backing.
No matter what G.O.A.L.!
Do not shift on RxR tracks. Central used to take you across the tracks during the test.
Do not let your truck coast out of gear.
Give yourself plenty of room making turns but not too much. Remember to use your signals.
Move over for emergency vehicles or move over a lane if someone is broke down.
This of course isn't everything but are some of the main things they will be looking for. Good luck!

i was practicing the straight line backing yesterday and it was a little different than the way i learned to back a trailer but it was pretty fun. he said i was looking in my right hand mirror too much so that was definately something ill have to work on but thanks for the advice. anything helps
-
Straight line back.
Put your hand at the bottom of the steering wheel. Look in Left mirror.
When the trailer gets to big you need to turn the to the right (since you want the trl to go right).
When you cannot see the trailer you need to turn the wheel left just a little, till you can see it again.
It is kind of backwards when you have your hand at the bottom of the wheel. But the trailer will go whatever way you move your hand when it is down there. So it is easy. -
thats the way i learned was to turn the bottom of the wheel the way you want the trailer to go and that has always been an easy way for me to learn and ive always done it that way

Sitting at home last night watching the Idiot box and there was a knock on the door and a guy asking for JJ, it was a process server, it seems that Central is going after JJ for the school fee's
Since he was at Central for two years there is no school fees!!!
I am E-filing JJ's reply this morning!
More dirty underhanded BS from Central! -
You can never watch a mirror 'too much'. If you don't keep an eye on both morrors you will eventually end up being on one of those 'we had X accidents last night' messages..
