You get $160 cash on last day of orientation. I believe detention is $10/hr, starting at the 2nd hour after appointment time, but I've never received it so I'm not sure. Layover policy kinda blows, but, what can you do...it goes-- First 24 hrs free, 2nd 24hrs $25, every additional 24hrs after $50.
Pretty much all of their trucks come equipped with an APU, I think they have gotten rid of most the trucks without one. I'm not real sure what the exact idle percentage is they want you to stay below, but that's because I dont worry about it... my truck never idles unless I'm at a stop light
I have only been here a few short months, but I am enjoying it a lot...I have only sat one time while waiting for a load (not counting times in Laredo), and my DM has kept me moving pretty good. When you are down in Laredo, there is a board with the drivers waiting for a load, so you can actually see how many people are ahead of you..
Is Melton really as bad as everyone says?

Oh, I thought you said Meltom.
Nevermind.Meltom Thanks this. -
I have a friend who left TMC back when I was there to go to Melton. He has been there now for over 5 years. He really likes it there. Much better than TMC in his opinion. He has been trying to talk me into going there, but I don't think they would work too well for someone living in South Dakota. They allow you to "bank" your home time so you can stay out a little longer if you want, and be home longer when you do go home. They have a higher percentage of no tarp loads than most other flatbed carriers, according to him. I know this isn't firsthand info, but I hope it helps someone.

Most of what ya said is good... I'll say I've tarped maybe 60 percent of my loads.
-
biggest question is whats the average miles and do they pay weekly?
-
paid weekly. avg miles vary, but i get around 2500.
-
Look at it this way. 100 hundred tarp loads x $ 40 = $ 4,000. not bad huh?

Seen an ad for Melton looking for minimum 2 months exp.? Does anyone know what their pay scale is?
Do they run West Coast?
Thanks -
I'll be in Birmingham, AL. Monday morning. They are going to start me out at $.38/cpm plus the advertised $40 tarp pay. I haven't seen anything on a pay scale on their site. The way the recruiter sounded it's all based on experiance and MVR back ground. Must have Twic, hazmat and passport by your 6th month of employment which I already have my hazmat and Twic. I don't think they will hire anyone who can not obtain all three.
