I ran on the company side up to last June - same dispatcher as U2. Was approached once about training, without any pressure put on me to do it... and I didn't. I never felt any negative consequences - neither my miles or the quality and timing of my loads were affected by saying "no." As TruckerMike said, they briefly mention during orientation that you can lease if you want to - then change the subject. During the nearly 3 years I was on the company side, I was never once approached about leasing a truck.
I changed over to the lease side on my own volition last June, and its been working well for me since.

Thanks for the info, I was worried about that because on the website they talk a lot about it and not too much about just a company driver. I will be going Team, well my plans anyways. I will know by the end of training if I can handle it lol.
-
So is it worth it to get me permit before I get there? I would rather have the training from a instructor to be honest.
-
Your permit is the result of a written, multiple-guess test. You can study for it now and get it done before you go - instead of having to cram for it in Springfield. All the answers are given to you in your states' CDL manual - you won't be getting any "training" on it from anyone. Its basically memorization.
You will need to bring your permit - a laminated driver's license form if your state provides you with that - with you to orientation. If time is short between now and your expected start date, you may not be able to get that done.revslev Thanks this. -
Got the permit on the 23rd. It was driving me crazy, took the test without studying... pretty much common sense... Thanks for all the advice everyone, orientation on the 4th. Guess that means ill be grey doggin it on the 2nd to get there on time

I have been with prime since may and i have only been home 6 days i am a company driver and they never get me home when i give a months notice when i need to be home its always a week up to three weeks after the time i requested. and this is happening to several other drivers i personally know.and for mileage i am lucky to average 2000 in a week. after i send my mty call in i wait 2 to 18 hours for a load. prime has made me loose my house.. i have not taken out one advance... prime refuses to give me a new fleet manager and tells me give it time it will get better.. its been 6 months.. now if i get more than one day of home time i am going somewhere that pays a lot more and i get the promised miles and home time..

man that sucks sorry to hear things arent working out for you i hope things get better what division are you in
-
First of all, why dig up a very old thread?
Second, so what you are saying is that you mostly get miles under 2k a week?
Sounds like a bad fleet manager. I don't know what to say about getting a new one. I've never been in your boat on complaints.
You got any service failures? Accidents? Citations? My fleet manager has been on a terror about these lately... I don't have these problems so I get to ignore the messages.
New thing is reefer division has had it with drivers who have clock available to run but set a PTA for the next day or decide they're gonna break for 10 hours after delivery.
How long have you been solo? Your info says student? -
Snipped out everything except what I needed ... dug this up: Prime Orientation Next Week
Looks like he started as a student in May?
