Hmmmm.....I think I'd like to check one out and see what it's capable of. I've used the Cobra 148 GTL ever since they've come out. As a matter of fact...I'm in the process of acquiring a "new one" from Taiwan pretty soon. I guess I can only hope that this "new" SSB is built a bit better than the "China made" 148's.

I haven't seen one and haven't checked with any suppliers so I'm not sure. I have only seen the Cobra equivalent. I am assuming the insides of the Uniden are pretty much the same as the Cobras, just like they are in the older radios.

the equivelent cobra still has the same chassis as the older 29's but it has the new faceplate circuit board that ties into the old style board, whereas the uniden looks like a completely different chassis/board setup. i guess i will see when they hit the market and talk to my tech to see what he thinks about them.

I looked at the pics that HH posted and it sure doesn't look like any cobra that I have been inside.

But yes the digital cobra is nothing more then a digital faceplate attached to a regular cobra 29. This means that anything you could do to a regular non digital cobra will work on the digital cobra.

The optional mic will be wireless but not Bluetooth compatible.
