Mack has become the same piece of crap that Volvo has. If you drove local and had connections with the dealership it would be fine but out on the road you are going to be on the list behind the local trucks if you can even afford to keep repairing the piece of junk. Once mack merged with volvo the game was over.

I sent you a PM as my story had too much personal info in it but yes it can be done but the question is would you want to in this day and age? As everyone stated luck plays a big part of it unless you have the resources for a major repair or it you had a bad crash or at least be able to get back home and leave it on the side of the road. And you will still have your tax bills to pay.

I was basically forced into starting a company. Something I was most fear of yet something I am so happy I did.

I basically took a loan out for $25 grand CND to buy a 2005 Freightliner M2.
The payment on this truck is $800 / month, the truck uses $800 / month in fuel and the insurance is $145 / month. Giving me a grand total of $1745.

    Now I personally don't drive this truck - I have hired a driver at $18 / hour.

The first month was the hardest because I had to get 6 new tires ( $3200 ) I have to replace the ETP ( electronic fuel pedal - $600 + $400 rental of another truck ) but since that first month of hardship it has been nothing but profit.

My contract is a never ending contract that will have a never ending supply of work, mainly because we are an in city trucking company. Honestly it's the only way to go because things will ALWAYS need to be shuttled around the city. In the 6 years of being an in city driver I have NEVER had a ###### year, EVEN with the rescission we had back in 04'-05'.

Well, that's all I can think of right now - pretty tired and the brains not working 100%

That's funny. I run the city now for a company.
One of the specialty driver jobs but I probably wouldn't want to do it without about 10 years experience. City traffic and tight turns all day long. Now we have people with cell phones thinking they can drive and talk.

City is fun! Keeps you on your toes all day long! I'm excited for winter, single axel + winter driving is epic! Yeah people are idiots but there are those people everywhere. I enjoy city for the main fact of tight turns, impossible back ups and pushing the limits of how close I can push my truck though certain situations! I've been told many time and I'm sure it won't stop but so many people can't believe how good of a driver I am and lets just say I love getting compliments =D

My investor was a family member with a large credit card to purchase the truck outright rather than finance through a bank because with my credit situation no bank would touch me. also the salesman told me it's different from buying a car as banks don't like lending to first time truck buyers. He said he couldn't get a 796 guy approved on a first time. I only call them my"angel"investor because without them I literally had no other choice but to go company. The truck was 20k, 2004 freightliner columbia with 500k in mint condition. Some local company truck taken well care of. Just always be responsible with the paychecks. It's tempting to do bad things with your first couple 2-4k weekly settlements, just remember it's mostly your company money and uncle sams cut. Best of luck

I forgot to mention that I pay 700/week in truck payments to get it paid off quickly so that I can save/be prepared for the inevitable. This truck wasn't a birthday present to some spoiled kid :)
