Watch out, low miles, low pay, poor fmcsa score and the driver will pay. First off they take $300. Out of your pay $ 25 per week for truck equipment. 2nd is $138 for twick card this is a must have. $38 for your medical examination( needed or not) you have 90 days to get a passport $255.. I've been with the company 6, week and have been d.o.t 3,times...i avg less then 2000 mile a week. Lot of time loading getting the tank clean and reloading ...my loads avg from 150 mile to 800 mile. 70% of my loads go to the north east...the only place you can fuel is at love's. So plan on paying for shower $9 to 12 bucks a pop. Layover is paid at $50 after 48 hrs.. Pay for pumping off/on is $25 it takes 2/4 hrs to pump off a load...they issue a oakley i.d card if you loose it they charge $100...(looks like it took 2bucks to make) i really should have check out this company before hand (my bad) this week they sent a message (now hiring trainees) so if you ARE homeless and need a warm truck to sleep in come to oakley..tell them i sent you i need the 500 bucks

You profess to have 20 years experience and you ended up working for this? Did you ask any questions in the interview process?
-
So....Love's don't have showers.....or what?
p.s.- I never was a Love's guy when I was out there.....but I had a Love's Rewards card.....ain't they the same as any others? Get fuel, swipe card, need shower, swipe card......get on down the road.
You think? Atleast you admit it. -
I talked to 3 Oakley drivers in the past week, all around lakeland, they all said they LOVE it!!! I guess one man's treasure is another man's junk.... The one guy told me he runs 90% coast to coast too... IDK, glad I'm not looking to tank it though, seems they mostly have a bad name around here!
lostheart Thanks this. -
I've been with Oakley well over 4 years now. All of this is a bold lie. This is a prime example of a "truck driver story"! $25 a week for $1000 set of stainless steel fittings issued, Passport-Oakley pays for part of it and they are only $125 for both the book and the card. TWIC-Transportation Workers Identification Credential-you'll need this-EVERY GAS HAULER even has to have one to load at a loading station. If you're getting less than 2000 miles a week here it's your own fault or you just don't want to work!

If you are a company driver. You should not have to pay for anything to do your job without being reimbursed. All should be provided by the company. If they want you to do border crossings and go into ports then they should provide the means to do so.
The only exception would be if you bent over and signed a form in orientation saying you would pay out of pocket for these items.
But if you just bumped your head and signed the form without reading those items would be tax deductible if used specifically in the performance of your duties on the job. -
people always say "well you have twenty years of experience and you work for this" Why is it people say this. 20 years of experience does not mean you are perfect and cannot make mistakes on whom you chose to drive for.
This guy saw a company that he thought he could make a descent living with and ended up with a bad company. It happens to everyone. It happened to me once. Don't give the guy such a hard time just because he chose a crappy company.Grouch Thanks this. -
