That contraption is a trailer dump. It is real. This is used in chip dumping operations, garbage, potates, grains...anything that can be hauled in loose bulk.

Not photo shopped. It's a lift to rapidly unload bulk product. That one is at a newsprint factory in Dublin,Ga. In a van I have done Potatoes, Cotton Seed, Soy Beans, Scrap Paper, Corn, Wheat Mids, scrap aluminum and wood chips. All it takes is the recieving facility to have a lift. Turns you into a dump body.

Now if only I could get them to install one at Tractor Supply to speed up unloading

did a load of 'taters to Frito Lay few years back, it was supposed to be a drop but they told me it would be a live when I got there. Had me back onto the ramp, little did I know it was the ramp, until I got out of the truck and all these lights and buzzers started sounding. Scared the beejezus out of me, but cool as hell

Be sure to never leave your truck running when on a lift. Saw a guy at Chikashea(sp?) in Tifton Ga blow his motor dumping cotton seed. Seems the oil pump actually needs oil to lubricate :biggrin_25517:

Supertrucker who thought you can't ever turn the truck off then? Not good enough for him to simply get a ticket. Some people have to learn the hard way.

In fairness when ginning cotton those boys get pushed pretty hard especially back then with the split sleeper being wide open. I think he just wasn't thinking about where he was at. A lot of times at the gins you load yourself, pile in some, pull up, pile in, pull up.........

You spend a lot of time in and out without shutting down, I believe he jumped out and never even thought about it. When I stopped hauling seed they had a policcy of turning in key's before they dump and SP(the only place I dump at currently) does as well to prevent it.

I used to haul wood chips and I had to load it myself. All I had to do was pull under a huge bin and pull a chain to release the wood chips. We could not leave the plant weighing less than 80,000 lbs but could not weigh any more than 84,000 lbs.

It was sometimes aggravating, because when you load yourself you have to judge on how much to dump in the trailer, because if you are 79,900 lbs. They make you go all the way back and dump more into your trailer. If you scale out at 85,000 lbs. They make you go back and dump some out of your trailer.

It was MANDATORY you had your load weigh between 80-84,000 lbs to be able to leave plant no matter how many times you had to dump or re-load.

no one is going to see my carry permit or hold my weapon in some hole in the wall guard shack or search my truck. and that goes the same for making my passengers exit the truck. screw that.
