So I just got my CDL from Roadmasters of Tampa and Chose Werner to work for( Ill be attending orientation in Atlanta, GA if anyone else is going and sees this).... But the thing is that I have been doing some reading and all I hear is bad things about Werner.... Should I choose to go with someone else or should I just stick it out to get the experience before moving on? I really dont wanna work for a bad company but then being unemployeed is not gonna pay my bills. Any thoughts/ Suggestions?![]()

How many other choices do you have in your area? I don't know if Werner is any worse than the next guy but look at all of your options, don't get locked in to one company look at all of them and decide on one by what is best for your situation.

Well I live in St. Petersburg so for these big "training companies" other than Werner is Swift. I will do OTR for the experience but ideally I would like a regional or local run. being fresh outta school most local jobs wants a min of 3 months OTR experience. I guess if I dont like it I could always look for another job while I work there.

Your experience would probably be different, but if you haven't read this post: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/report-a-bad-trucking-company-here/39618-werner-trainer-craps-himself.html
It is a must read for anyone going into Werner

Ok... let me just cross Werner off the list when I graudate CDL school.

Werner is no different than the others. Its going to be what you make of it. Don't listen to these guys that whine because they can' t hack it out there, get S-canned and then complain it was the companies fault. Werner is a large company and hires probably hundreds of drivers everyday. Therefore you will have hundreds of shlubs complaining cause they couldn't make it.
As far as companies out of Florida to choose from there are plenty. Windy Hill, Armellini, WEL, Swift, Werner, Knight, Central Refrigerated, P.A.M., Sunshine, Comcar, Peninsula, Honey, MCT, Prime, MAY etc...
Give some of these a call and see what they have to offer. Good luck man!

lol I did read this... I felt soo bad for this guy. If that was me I would be on the phone either telling my DM I need a new trainer or that I quit cause of the harsh and unfair working conditions. I can understand that no one is perfect but this slob should not be on the road. What happened to hiring Professional drivers? I think people like this give truckers the bad name america thinks of us...

ill just stick it out with werner for a bit and see how it goes... I just need the experience being right out of school. Ill keep everyone updated about my experience and how my trainer is and what my days consisted of.

I hope it goes well for you! Good Luck

Choose wisely. You don't want to quit with less than a year in. It won't look good on your resume'. But I guess I'm old-fashioned that way.
