Help with piston liners

what engine is this? series 60 EGR?

 

hi just removed 6 liners and pistons from a detroit 14 liter. how i did it was i used a bottle jack and a 2 by 2 pine board rounded at the end for the connecting rod. remove the oiler first and bering shell then push the piston all the wat to the top until the first compression ring comes out this will leave the connecting rod right at the base of the liner. can now move the crank to the side out of the way. put 2 by 2 board in berring shell saddle and jack by hand. check with a flashlite that the connecting rod is centered in the liner before putting too much pressure. start jacking you will have to jack it up tight at least 6" . i was guessing about 4,000 to 5,000 lbs of pressure needed to pop it loose. after it pops you will have to pull hard and wiggle side to side to free the band o-ring. this can be done without the $1,100.52 dollar puller. hope this helps someone out.

 

have question i cant find the rod cap toqure for the series 60 -14 liter. everyone keeps giving me the same toqure values as the 12.7 i dont think this is right as the rods are bigger and the bolts almost measure 9/16 in diamiter.

 

In my manual it says 118-137 ft. lbs.

 

i have noticed that sometimes excessive pressure in the expansion tank is sometimes caused by a faulty air acuated water valve in the sleeper that controls water flow to the heater and not caused by anything in the engine. causing air pressure to be forced into the water system. but also just did a job where the pressure was caused by head gasket leaking. if liners or o-rings were faulty you would get water in your oil. hope this helps out.
